My ride is strictly street and in the real world torque rules! Many people talk about BHP numbers which are meaningless unless you collect dyno readings the way drag racers collect timeslips.
To build the motor with the performance character I'm after I,ve chosen a 406 chevrolet small block matched with Edelbrock Rpm heads for lightness and better breathing, a Summit mid-range flat tappet cam to give smooth idle terrific mid range torque and halfway decent gas milage as I like to drive my cars and not just look at them...I'm running a muncie wide ratio 4 speed with a RAM performance clutch, a posi rear end with a sensible ratio like 3.07 which helps in the fuel economy and will give about 145mph top end if I feel the need for some speed. Forgot to say I will run a 600 or 650 cfm carb on a Street Dominator intake as these give nice crisp performance up to a redline of around 5500 rpm, perfect for the street!
Sounds like a really nice combination you've got there, which cam are you going for?? You might want to consider a Performer RPM Airgap as a good intake as opposed to the Dominator, as on dyno tests it compares very well with single plane manifolds. Maybe look to running an X pipe exhaust system?? cheers.....Nige
