Hi I'm Bert aka Brutuz, a nick I got in the port of Amsterdam in the eghties 'cause I'm not tall nor easily intimidated. I'm about to buy a 1998 3.8 v6 Camaro, was looking online for a community and thought this place felt like home.
I'm also co-adminning on a UK airgun forum and we meet once a year and even though I'm from Holland I try to attend and have a blast each time I do. Also run my own Crosman airpistol forum and am founder and chairman of a Dutch MC est 2001 but due to Garmin, Facebook and such and the crises the number of members isn't anymore what it used to be. Currently me and my wife both ride a Suzuki GSX650F, but a couple of years ago my insurance company asked me if I was a trader when I registered bike #6 lolz but those days soon were over when the current model GSXF was introduced and I wanted that one soo bad I sold all my other bikes, not my wife's bike though ;-)
Cars... started 1982 with an old Simca, few cars later a UK Talbot Sundbeam Ti w. 2 double 40mm Weber carbs, loved that one, the last family car we bought is a made in the Netherlands but w. Swedish engine/transmission Volvo V40 2.0t and that car is so good it's been in the family for 6 years I think and many more to go, it's being used but stays in such a good shape....
Ok and American cars. Started a couple of years ago when we planned to visit the UK again and my wife wanted to rent a mobile home. Extremely expensive. We gave it some thought and eventually bought a Dodge Ram Van (like the Chrysler Voyager but w. front seats only) and a "van-tent"that mounts to the side, where you keep the sliding door open. Worked like a charm.
Van was cheap and we said hey if it lasts a year it's ok, if it breaks down no repairs and it goes. Well it never broke down, only costs 300 to 400 euro's a year for maintenance and parts because a friend of mine dose the maintenance for me and mot's it too.
And then came my 2nd midlife crisis and I bought and Oldsmobile last October, this one, the most luxurious one they made:
Sound so cool because after the katalyst the only thing mounted is pipe, no muffler
Most flaws have been solved but my wife hates it and I thought (and said) if that's so is it ok with you if I buy a Camaro?
Well you should be able to guess the outcome

Hi Bert and welcome to the forum!
That is a very nice 4th gen! Good thing the Mrs. is ok with it There's a good amount of American cars in the Netherlands so i'm sure you'll get a good price and find it easy to maintain. It will be a lot of fun no doubt

Oops (that's the kindest way to express my feelings) I picked it up, they forgot to MOT it, did that while I waited, discovered front needed new brake-pads, not available today, so agreed they put the old ones back and I'd drive home and arrange replacement and MOT myself
When I went home, proud, in my new Camaro, happy, the dashboard brake warning light started blinking and all 4 turn-signals started blinking, so went back, drove a mile w. the mechanic with me in the car, all went well, go figure.
So headed for home and had to call the shop after 10 minutes as there was a lot of smoke coming from under the bonnet and at the roundabout where I wanted to turn to go back it was barely moving forward anymore to the had to tow it back to the shop
My day off from work (compensation for working 8 days straight) left home 0815 returned 1645 lost, jz I'm not happy.
Might be the air-co pump (climate control) that seized, they told me the previous owner had used the car two years ago for the last time when he passed away, another thing I would rather not have known. Maybe the brakes seized, or something else went wrong. I got a loaner to drive home and hope they fix my Camaro soon.

Eeeek! Dodgy brakes, smoke, flashing lights, no power, intermittent faults!! Think I would be after a full refund and go looking elsewhere, sounds like there could be a lot of hassle further down the line. V6 camaros aren't that scarce or difficult to find over here and if all that occurred within a few hours of buying it what could be waiting till you've had it a few days to surface?
