So, some of you may know about my poorly 77' Camaro. It's been patched underneath many times before and was sort of semi-restored 11 years ago, but was really starting to need some TLC. It failed it's MOT this year, and for a while has been suffering from some tinworm in many areas, so I had to make a decision of what to do.
I really wanted to keep it going and on the road, and a few weeks ago the car was taken down to my fabricator guy to weld up the floors, sills and boot to pass the MOT ... Unfortunately lack of skills, time, space etc.. meant it would be a very expensive undergoing to do it properly and fully restore the body......
.
However, another car recently came up for sale, a clean, nearly finished 99% rust free 79' project, which the seller kindly agreed to let me have without the engine and gearbox as good price.
So I know have this:
Which will be the new car, with all the good bits (engine, gearbox, all suspension, brakes, rear axle, seats) fitted from this, my old car:
Hopefully it'll all fit and go together nicely, and the body just needs a few touch ups, waxoiling and a good polish. I'm hoping to end up with car I wanted which is a very quick, great handling and stopping manual 2nd gen, thats's a bit more streetable and useable.
I'll have a car to sell, either possibly as a complete package with standard parts from the new car (which are all virtually new) just needing the body resto, assembling and engine and gearbox to complete..... Or... I'll sell all the parts separately, so will have nearly a full cars worth of 2nd gen bits up for grabs.
I've no doubt I might need the odd 78-81 part so I may come asking
Whilst I'm not doing the bulk of the work myself, I'll be going to the workshop regularly to help out, and do some regular updates here...
