Trying to test the windscreen wiper and washer. Any idea why the bottom right fuses have no 12v?!?! Its a brand new interior wiring harness and fuse box. Neither side has 12v.the others do. Ignition is turned on. :-(

Ok, found this brown wire coming out from the engine side of the fuse box(the one with the blue terminal crimp). Its voltage changes when i move the switch for the wiper. The rest of the loom i think is from ac. I bunched them up to keep them out of the way. No idea what the brown wire should connect to?

Voltage dropping when the wipers on could indicate a bad earth somewhere, the fuse for the hazard should be a permanent live regardless of the position of the ign switch, could be the brown wire needs a permanent live but without a schematic or wiring diagram I would need a crystal ball or access to the force to tell you

There's a schematic on the roof lol. Hooked the brown wire up to a fused 12v and the radio fuse has 12v on both sides. The wiper fuse (bottom) has 12v on 1 side. Weird, as the fuse is new and looks intact. Going to try and remove with 1000 pieces of glasa smashin everywhere. I hate glass fuses. I tried to look up some kind of adapter that lets u put a blad fuse into a caddy that sits in the glass fuse holder. That way u convert it over to blade fuses. Business opportunity out there for someone! Gonna try the fuse now..

Well, swapped the fuse out and have 12v on both sides of wiper fuse. Nothing happens though when moving the switch. If i push the button for washer fluid ican hear a click from the unit but no cant hear a motor move and no washer fluid comes out. Wipers dont move. Dont even attempt to. Wtf. Used to work.

Ok, back inside in the warm! Half fixed. Turned out the wipers didn't work because the main plug (with 3 wires) had the middle connector (+12v) pushed backwards into the housing, so it wasn't making contact with the connection on the wiper motor. Unplugged, pushed in further and now it connects, so the wipers work correctly, woo!
The washer doesn't work though  When you push the button to spray window juice, you can hear a click, like a relay / solenoid, but that's it. Nothing actually engages. I bought a new (refurbished) unit (can't seem to get them new) so will try that tomorrow. Too cold tonight.

Oh and yes they do make glass to blade fuse converters!! Will try and find a UK supplier, in the meantime:

Right, so i found the box with the new (remanufactured) wiper aaaaand there's no washer pump on it. So i have 2 working wiper motors, and no working washer pump. Initial question is... is the washer an MOT requirement? Guess the only way to solve is to pull the unit off and and take apart the washer and see what's not working on the circuit. Just what we need  Also, the horn is as loud as a gentle summer breeze, so not sure what's going on there. Think i have a spare somewhere so will try and dig that out. Classic 1 step forward, 2 steps back.

You need washers for MOT.

I fitted a new washer mechanism to my new pump and it lasted about a week before it broke. I ended up just fitting an inline electric washer pump to the original hose from the washer bottle and bypassing the pump.

I hate wiper circuits - the GM one is really simple though compared to the Rover P6 one that I did last....

Thanks for the info! I won't plan for an MOT anytime soon then. I found that Rockauto sell the washer pump unit, ranging from $15 for $65. There is an AC Delco one for a little under £50, with shipping it's about £70. Still have to transfer the delay circuits over which is annoying, especially for that price. May as well get the $15 one. Which one did you get, that lasted all of 3 weeks?

Good idea about the separate pump! I guess you would take the +12v that goes into the stock pump and use that as the +12v for the standalone pump? Any recommendations on what type to get? Cheers!

Something like this? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12-Volt-Unive ... SwNSxU4Xtz

Wonder if this would get through an MOT:
