Found the trunk rubber, it was in a box amongst the old weather stripping. I had checked it before, just not thoroughly enough. So that's good.

Have been doing various things such as the door cards and random things that pop up. Coated the inner doors with Tetrosyl Wax Oil. Will be doing the inner quarter panels too, as well as the chasis rails (front and rear) and the rocker panels.

Ran the engine for a good 20 minutes, got it up to temp, gauges all work, system charges, no belt squeaks, electric fan kicks in where it should. Need to do a little driveway testing this weekend, make sure the brakes are ok and no leaks. Need to test wipers work and washer pump too. Then will need to go over and make sure there are no loose fittings etc.

Yes it seems so! Just tackling a window washer issue, Flakmonkey came up with a great solution so i should be able to sort that out this week. I also need to glue the new glass mirror onto the holder. Not sure what kind of adhesive to use, so thinking of trying fibreglass resin. Found a bit of a brake leak, due to the bleeders not being tight enough, so resolved that yesterday. Then i should be able to test it up and down the drive to make sure it stops etc. Then i'm wondering if i should MOT and Tax it, or wait spring. December is usually always mild, so i could get a months use out of it, but Mid January to mid March is kind of pointless as the roads are salted and it's usually always raining and there's mud everywhere around where i live.

Well the washer pump installed and works nicely. Just having an issue with splitting the output of the pump into the 2 pipes. 1 way return valve with splitter doesn't seem to be working.

Lots of little jobs getting done. Anything that's got a grease nipple has been greased. A little worried that the tie rods balljoints may need replacing as i can wobble the wheel sideways a little bit (with both wheels off the ground). Not sure how much play is acceptable. Up and down movement is non existent and control arm balljoints are all new.

Interior i think is all sorted now. Still need to take it for a little test drive, hopefully this weekend.

Jolly good show..... final few tiny hurdles..
is it a 2 person job checking the control arm joints ? i'd have thought if there's no lateral movement it's OK..

I'm not sure really - i thought you just grab the tyre at clock position 9 and 3, then rock sideways. Doesn't appear to be any clunking, just a bit of movement, hoping that's normal!

Shouldn't be any play at all really... could be a tiny bit in steering box.. not uncommon..

Thanks for the advice, i hope it is just that! I had the car jacked up earlier with both front wheels off the ground. When rocking the wheel sideways i could see the top of the tie rod ball joint (where the kingpin is) moving about 1cm overall from side to side, and the steering assembly was not moving, so there may be a bit of play in there. At least it's a relatively simple fix and there are quite a few places that sell them, so if it causes driving issues, or the MOT man picks up on it, then it will get changed out. Gotta take it for a test drive soon...
