Thought I'd post the last(? there never really finished) stages of putting my 68 back together after what is more of refurb than a restoration, wont be a show winner but something I can drive whenever I want without worrying :mrgreen:

The pictures of the first 2 years of this project are on another camera that I can't find the cables or cd to load them on this computor, but basically it was a solid car that needed a lot of work to get it through an MOT

It was originally a 327 v8 matador red, not a Z28 or ss so my theory is it doesn't need to be a perfectly standard restoration,
its now a 350 with a small 144 supercharger but I am planning on keeping the original 68 deluxe interior
a few pictures before the bodywork started, new radiator support bars made as the new hood was a tight fit in that area;

another pre paintshop pic, this is after the rear window has been out and a repair section welded in and sprayed with primer.
also a lot filler dug out of the lower rear quarter, back into shape and a bit of primer.
spoiler test fit

I was never completely happy with the front end sheet metal, think it had been chopped at one time to get rid of bumper corner brackets and accomodate a different front grille set up, probably in the late 70's/80's, they had some strange ideas then :?
I decided it was a lot easier and quicker to buy a new front end to go with the new hood, I think pics of them are in the 1st gen new member thread.......Alan

Looking good Alan. What sort of wheel/tyre combo are you going to run?? Are you able to keep the original interior or do you have a new one for it? keep those pics coming ;) ;) If you ever decide to sell your steering wheel let me know, ;) cheers.....Nige

Probably keep the 15x8 rallyes that are on it now for a while as their in very good condition and the trim rings and hub caps are like new, could get tempted by some 17/18's although there way down the list at the moment.

The interior is in really good shape (should have taken it out for the paint job but didn't have time or space and I know the floors good)
but I may change it around a bit if I find a good set of 4th gen front seats at the right price.

Have you been watching me today? because I took the steering wheel off earlier to try an old grant one I had, personally not to keen on the one in the pics above so might buy a new grant one, haven't made my mind up yet.

Sorting through some of my surplus bits later this week and will post them on here before ebaying them, I know there's '69 rear spoiler in used but good condition that'll be first........Alan

Called up to check on my car today, paintwork nearly finished just some more flatting and polishing to do and rear stripes to finish.

Took a few pics of the front end panels back on (feel like I've had them on and off about 100 times over the last few weeks, 4 or 5 in reality)

Still cant get my camera to take a decent true colour pic, it seems to struggle with the red.

does anyone have any tips on how to get my camera to take a better picture?
or is it because my camera is cheap and nasty :(

If I push the screen of the laptop back to about 45* it looks a lot nearer the right colour :lol:

Hi Alan, my camera only seems to take pinkish colour pics of mine as well :lol: so I know where you're coming from. It's looking really nice in the pics now, keep those pics coming, cheers.....nige
