Only just started reading this one. Good thread and great results.

I'm not sure that you can remove the lower dash (radio and passenger side) without removing the entire dashpad and attaching it from the back. You may get lucky if you remove the innards of the glove box, but you will be working blind.

Removing the dash isn't all that difficult, the worst part is working it out for the first time.
Thank you, appreciated :)

The innars of the glove box have been removed. I would like to replace the lower dash since there's a crack in it which to me spoils the appearance. That said to remove the whole dashboard may require a lot of dexterity?

So, it's been a while since I've done anything to the interior but recent progress has been made.

The vacuum HVAC lines weren't linked up, as such the heater box hasn't been in operation in while. Since I received a new heater matrix in the A/C delete kit I figured the old (and probably original item) should be removed.

With the nuts and bolts removed...

..and a bit of force, out it came.

Thankfully only a little bit of surface rust to the blend door, vent diverter and de-mist door.

Although the actuators hadn't functioned for some time, pleasingly both worked as they should via the heater controls. Heater box re installed, rustproofed the metalwork...

Note: sponge surround between heater box and ducting. Originally, the ducting and heater box are separated by a few centimetres with no direct connection. Hopefully the foam will help direct air flow to the desired area with minimal loss.

Good to see the updates and progress! I have the same job this weekend, except on a non AC car. Did you have to drop the inner fender or were you able to do it all within reason?

What else are you planning on doing the car? Is it ready for the roads for this year?

Thanks :) I removed the inner arch to help remove the A/C suitcase, it does come out easily enough though. Why are you removing the heater box?

It "may" see usage on the public roads this year, maybe not. There's a lot to do, wiring is next followed by a multitude of other issues that need rectifying.

I noticed while driving in summer, (without an interior) that the floor pan and footwells became hot after twenty minutes or so of driving.

I purchased several square meters worth of heat reflective material from Agriemeach, the product Reflect-a-Cool

https://www.agriemach.com/c85-reflectacool

Unpackaged the other day, though purchased a few months back...

Thoroughly cleaned the surfaces with all purpose cleaner, and finished with a paint prep wipe. In it goes...

The great thing about this product is that it has NO sound deadening quality whatsoever! Why anyone would want to deaden the note of a small block Chevrolet is beyond me! ;)

Mine was leaking - i started the car a couple of weeks ago and saw some coolant dripping under the car. The floor plan has also been welded, so that seems to be a bit of a hint that something wasn't right. I'm just in the middle of replacing it now. Managed to get the box out from the inside of the footwell. Been trying to dry out the carpet all day yesterday with a fan heater, the thing is soaked!

Hopefully it will be on the road this year :) What's the plans with the wiring, are you putting in a new loom? Be good if you could make it to Speedfest, might be a bit of a drive but it's a great event!
