Its easy for rubbish to get thru to the carb after working on the lines, blocking the idle jets. Often will tickover but will not pull till the bigger jets come into play. Worth pulling the carb top and check for debris in the bottom.....it doesn't take much. Only a thought.

What I'm going to suggest has some danger attached, just a little but I have used this method when all else had failed.
Find a vacuum port on the carb, not ported but one that is below the butterfly so you get engine vacuum all the time.
Attach a long length of tubing and run the tube into the passenger side.
Grab a friend and a can of carb cleaner (highly flammable) with the small tube on the can stuck into the open end of the tubing.
Now go for a drive and try to duplicate your problem.
The moment you get the misfire under load have the passenger hit the button on the can of carb cleaner. If this does absolutely nothing, it's not a fuel problem.
Crude, yes, but it works. :mrgreen:

Well guys, I have had to bite the bullet :thumbdown:

The engine is going to have to come out, I took the car to a Corvett specialist here in Germany and he said there is nothing that can be done. The engine needs to be pulled and stripped :cry: :cry:

So now comes the costly repair, I just hope I don't find any bad things inside. :cry: :cry:
While the engine is out I will refurbish the gearbox as well.

It would not be so bad if it was at the end of the season but at the start of it :thumbdown:
I just hope the engine is savable I don't want to get rid of my 327 :cry: :cry:

Sometimes a total strip down of an engine is a good thing and can reveal problems that would become more serious if left undetected .
On the positive side sbc is a strong motor and they can usually be saved unless badly overheated or past the point of another bore size .

Well the engine has been stripped down.
The cylinder heads are the wrong ones :o They are 302 heads so the valves are small :o
Bottom end is good.

I have made the decision to get a refurbished engine.
The reason for this is Cylinder heads for a 327 are hard to find and expensive so the engine makes sense. The engine I have found is also a 1967 block so the car will have a matching numbered engine (that has to be good)
The engine has camel hump heads, performance camshaft, HV oil pump, standard flattop pistons with molly rings. Everything on the engine has either been renewed or machined. 1 Year warranty.
Cost was around 2300 pounds and I should be able to make some money back by selling my short block 327.

Hopefully within 2 weeks I should be back on the road :thumbup:

From memory the 327 uses the 350 block and heads. The only difference is the crankshaft has a shorter throw and the position of the gudgeon pin in the piston is different. So 327 and 350 heads should be the same.

Perhaps 305 heads if the valves are small .
302 heads are High Performance and would have large valves ...

Thanks firebird they are 305 heads :oops:

Neil the 327 heads have larger valves then the 350 heads.
I was thinking about fitting a 350 as the engines are alot cheaper and easier to get but I really like to keep the car as original as possible :)
