Got the window trim clips installed front and back. Missing 2 studs in total so not too bad.

Found the windshield things that hold it in place at the bottom, so good news there. Just need to give it a quick clean to get rid of the surface rust and can then install. Once they are in (this weekend) then can give the glass guy a call - Rocky knows someone who can do it at a normal price, just need to try and convince them i'm not too far away to travel to.

There are screw in studs available to replace missing or broken studs if you need to. I used these on my new rear quarters...

That would be really brilliant if you don't mind! It's literally 2 that are missing, if you're at speedfest and you could bring 2, i'll gladly make my usual offer of tea / coffee / beer in return :) Sure beats waiting 2+ weeks for a delivery from states :thumbup:

I'll pm you my mobile number and we can coordinate our location. Last year we didn't spend much time by the stand... mostly walked around the pit area / cars / track and watched the racing.

Progress has been slow on my end. Had one of my tired weeks so hardly spent time in the garage recently. Installed the spoilers over the weekend. Got started on the exhaust and it's been going slowly. Was getting somewhere with it yesterday but then the angle grinder went on strike in the afternoon so i need to purchase a new one.

I have headers and the over axle pipes, so it's 'just' a case of meeting them up. This mid section is custom so there's a lot of test fit, cut, test, cut etc. going on. That part that is done now is the part that connects to the header collectors, goes into an x pipe i made and now it's a case of getting the x pipe output to meet up with muffler inputs. Got to also make a bracket to hold one side of the over axle tubing into place (where it meets the output of the muffler).

Then it's onto tackling some jobs i really don't want to do. The passenger door has a nasty long paint run and the colour also appears different. Not sure if it's an illusion or the clear was heavy enough that it 'dug' into the colour and messed with the pigment. Either way, need to spend some time with a razor cutting it down, then sand it and see if it needs a recoat of colour. The reason this is annoying me is because it's preventing me putting the door locks in, the window trim and also the side glass. It would be a nice thing to tick of the list but gotta sort the paint first.

Another thing like the above, is that i repainted the dash but had some dry spray, right in the middle (facing the passenger) so much so that wiping a cloth over, it pulled bits of lint out. I tried putting a bit of thinner on a cloth and rubbing over the area and it worked, but then it also left streak marks on the surface. So now, i have to repaint that (which is why i haven't called the glass guy yet (don't want to get paint on the inside of the windscreen, it will get through, even if masked off, based on past experience) and also just a lot easier to deal with fumes / overspray without the glass in. Now the bugger is, it's a perfect dash, except for at some point, a tach was installed, screwed into the top of the dash. It was screwed in pretty tight as there's an impression of the stand in it and it's quite noticable (plus the 2 screw holes. Originally i was going to install the tach back in but i couldn't get both (already got a tach in the gauge cluster) to work simultaneously. It's also a cheap one so looks a bit, err, tacky. As i have to repaint the dash anyway, i thought i may aswel take care of this issue. I have one of these leather repair kit things so i can take care of the screw holes. I did some repairs on the console with this kit and it came out ok. The bigger issue is trying to get rid of the imprint. That's the conundrum and also why i've been putting it off... i don't know really what to do with it. The easy answer is put the tach back in, but i'd rather not. So err, ye. I'll take a pic.

I once made a (very loud) exhaust system for my old MK2 Transit van as the standard one needed replacing, using
a 2nd hand Capri GT 4-2-1 exhaust manifold,

I had a lot of success using one of these on paint runs, a little more controllable than a razor...

Thanks for the sanding tip! Couldn't find a UK supplier so will give it a try with a hard block (small wood one) with some 1500 grit after some razoring and see how that turns out.

I went to get a new angle grinder yesterday but B&Q were out of stock of the Bosch one i was after. Haven't had much luck with the cheap £20 ones from Toolstation. I'm on my 3rd one in 5 years and whilst it's not necessarily light use, it's not heavy use at the same time. Have had a Bosch Jigsaw for over 16 years and that's had some good use and is still going strong, so i thought i'd spend the cash and hope it's worth it. As it was out of stock, should be getting delivered tomorrow.

I have a circular saw that is functional but couldn't find a disc that fit it and was in the right RPM range. It's 185mm with a 20mm bore and the only discs i found in that size, have a limit of 3,900 RPM whereas the circular saw operates at 4,700 RPM. Don't fancy having a disc shatter but it would give a nice straight cut. Hopefully be mostly finished with the exhaust by the time we meet on Saturday. Or i could take the easy route and go with Stu's suggestion of flexi pipe and a cherry bomb :D

Seem to have hit a bit of a muddy patch as things are going quite slow. Bit of exhaust tubing should be arriving tomorrow so should be able to finish the exhaust tomorrow. Will have a bit of welding to do and then will make a couple of brackets to hold the mid section in. Then I can move onto sorting out the door run and dash board. Once those are done, time to call the glass guy.
