 Post subject: what kind of Antifreeze?

im having to change the heater core on my 69 camaro so will need to change coolant as well, whattype should i use? Ethylene Glycol?, OAT?, silicate?

In my '79 (has a '74 engine) it has Ethylene Glycol, green stuff, which i used based on the owners manual recommendation. I believe this would be the same for yours. The manual i have covers 1st gens, too, let me check for you tonight...

I've been using the pink stuff in everything for years, it's a more modern formula with better corrosion inhibitors than the older blue and green antifreeze, it's also rated for longer life (5 years compared to 2 on average) ...
Allegedly you shouldn't mix them though..

The stuff thats in mine now is green as well so was after getting the same, just not sure what type, all my cars in the past have been ethylene glycol

I didn't sorry, was working in the garage for a lot longer than expected, didn't get in till 1am :( I'll be checking first thing when i get home tonight. Mine had the green stuff in it too, i bought this Comma concentrate G48 stuff from Halfords, but in 5 litre. Used it to replace the fluids in the 2nd gen and use it to top up the 3rd gen:

Just checked, the manual says ethylene glycol, 50/50 mix water / coolant :thumbup:
