After my car failing it's mot last week due to rust on the inner sills, and the general amount of corosion coming through on most panels, (and a few other reasons) I'm on the lookout for new car to transfer all my mechanical bits into...

If any one hears a sniff on anything please let me know. .. cheers all. .

Sorry to hear about MOT dude :(

What years are you looking for... anything that falls into 70-81 or just the later year ones? Any kind of price cap? I'll keep an eye out

Any 2nd gen really. .. just as long as the body doesn't need too much work. .. All mechanicals will be swapped so doesn't matter if it has no suspension, engine, interior etc...

Shame you didn't post this a bit earlier . there was a silver 70s straight 6 auto on ebay about 2 weeks ago looked fairly good in the pix ...and in Watford
Keep your eyes on ebay, gumtree and maybe eurodragster they still come up but if you find one don't mess about because if it is halfway solid it will sell .

They do some up occasionally... I was eyeing up the red V6 one Berlinetta-Chris bought recently as a good candidate...

Gutted for you. Yours always looked like a decent car.

Sounds like it's gone in the same places as mine. I made the (foolish) choice of sorting it myself. I'd have been better off doing a body swap like you're planning.

It's not too bad to be honest, just failed MOT on underneath rust... Body has some bubbles breaking through now, and few dings I haven't had repaired so looks worse than it ever has... Thoughts go looking for another car because it'd be nice to start with a clean sheet so to speak, as I'd do things differently now to make the car less 'race' and more 'street'....

Just wondering, would it be worth getting a 2nd gen imported from the U.S? A nice rust free Cali / Arizona / Texas / Nevada car with a 6 pot engine?

Yep, did think about it... Possibly if the body needs nothing doing, prices seem to vary hugely and big risk on an un-seen car., even with pics
