There's nothing illegal about a cowl hood, however in the eighties a friend of min named Jim Wheelan's dad brought him a supercharged trams am with a big fruitbowl blower poking out of the bonnet which he regularly used to race the local constabulary with in their SDI rovers, in their own words (after loosing continually) "3 ft of chrome in the middle of your bonnet is an obstruction to your vision sir, if we see it on the road again we will confiscate it" , I heard they paid 18k in the nineties and sold it back to the yanks for 8!!! I have heard of someone with a cowl hood since being told to remove it as well for the same reasons
