Hi guys im looking to replace the carb on my z28, I have discovered that whoever fitted in the past it has cracked the housing to the fuel line and gummed it up with sealant to keep it going.....it Has a slight weep and has probably been like this for many years and judging by the state of the air filter it most likely wasn't the previous owner who had done this lovely fix...

Anyway!... I have found that the one I have is a remanufactured Holley carb....but It seems to also come under the guise of a
Rochester Quadrajet E4ME? (Im new to carbs so if anyone can explain this I would be grateful!)

I would be happy to just buy the same again but its not looking cheap!

Before I go ahead and get this are there any recommendations on another carb that may be a bit more wallet friendly and will offer good performance as well as fuel efficiency?

The engine currently has no mods however i will be looking to replace the heads and exhaust soon (currently has a flowmaster but the heads are still the cast iron originals)

I think the Rochester was standard, the Holley is an upgrade and I'm not sure a Rochester will fit on the manifold the Holley sits on, holleys can be rebuilt cheaply, I know a man who can depending on where in the world you are , holleys and rochesters are different carbs altogether

Q jet would probably have been original as stated, I believe the E4ME was an electronic feedback carb, part of the early attempt to control A/F ratios on the fly for emissions. The Holley could be fitted to the original spreadbore intake if it also is a spreadbore carb, or alternatively it may be a squarebore Holly with an adaptor. Also possibly the intake itself has been changed, look at it to see if you can see any words cast into it, also try to see if it is ally or iron. Carbs are plentiful and cheap.

You will still have to choose auto or manual, type of choke.

Just been to visit a friend, I can get you a refurbished Holley 600 vac sec for £175 if that's any help to you
