3rd gen calipers aren't interchangeable. 4th gen's have a weird handbrake linkage set up on them. Yep Rock Auto have been always cheap but, a few years ago the shipping rates went skywards ......

Pisses me off when Summit advertise low international shipping rates.

I have had both problems,

Firstly, when my calipers failed the MOT, the garage sent them off to get refurbed. It was about £100 a pair with a 2 year guarantee. So there are folk over here who can sort that.

As regards tyres i use mine all year round so its a major problem. Last time i used Northants tyres and got Hercules 255 55 16s. When i called this time they had Kuhmos at 200 quid plus vat each.

So this time i went for 225 60 16s Eagle F1. In every way they are a better bet apart from they look a tad narrower.

Huge choice, Rides better, tracks better, way more grip wet or dry, and 98 quid all in delivered.

So if you want a better driving car this is the best bet. If its all about the look, then get bigger wheels and do it properly. You could fit BMW 18s with rubber cheaper than 200 quid plus vat a corner.

I assume a refurb is a good cleaning and new seals.

I´ve done that many times on front calipers, but the last time mine needed that,
when prices were decent, I got two fronts from Summit................getting lazy.

sorry for the late chime in, busy busy at work.

Anyhow, if the handbrake is why it failed on the hand break need adjusting with the cylinder inside, nothing to do with the calliper (unless that is indeed poor too)

Infact, sometimes they shouldn't put our camaros on the break roller as if you have the LSD version diff and depending on which type they can prematurely wear, ie. clutch or cone type. Zexel helical screw type 'should' be ok. If your MOT guy tests the breaks they cannot do each rear wheel separate but must spin both together.

Handbrakes are also self adjusting ratchet on the handle side and always pull way up and are notoriously poo
