I have come to the conclusion that I have a non stock cam fitted.
Since I have owned the car the idle has always been a problem and the only way around this is to turn the tick-over up to at least a 1000rpm.
Once the car is placed into drive the revs die dramaticly and there is no vacuum, I have yet to measure the vacuum yet though. I have however checked for vacuum leaks around the carb and inlet manifold.
Another indication I have is the car lacks power on initial throttle but once it starts revving the thing goes like a bat out of hell. A friend of mine over here has a 1968 Vette with a 350 and he can not stick with me.

I have yet to confirm this by removing the cam but I am pretty sure.
To tell you the truth I would rather have a stock cam fitted as I am more of a cruiser then a full throttle kind of guy
If any of you guys have a spare stock cam for a 327 sitting in your garage let me know I will gladly take it off your hands ;)

Vacuume test done .
At 1000rpm = 15.7 inHg
Is this correct?

According to this, you're not far off at all:

http://www.cdxetextbook.com/toolsEquip/ ... gauge.html

Idle
16" - 22" steady
Healthy

Idle
14" - 20" steady
Fair but worn

Where possible, a photo sharing service can be used such as Flickr, Imgur etc. The image location (usually ending in .jpg) can be copy and pasted between the ][ brackets that appear when you click the 'Img' button (you can find this button at the top of the message box).

How to post youtube vids: Click on the 'youtubeHD' button at the top of the message box and in the middle of the ][ brackets that just appeared, copy and paste everything from the youtube web address that appears after the = sign i.e if this is the url: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2cNqaPSHv0 just copy "K2cNqaPSHv0").

Could it be related to the noisy fuel pump, or a fuel related issue..?
I'm guessing all timing and spark options have been eliminated by new dizzy, plug wires etc.. and set correctly.

Chevy-stu you hit the nail on the head.
I changed the fuel pump today and my word what a difference. The car has full power and Is idling like it has never done before, purrrrrring ;)
Who would have thought that a fuel pump would have effected the idle. Like they say everyday is a school day.

Thanks all for you help

Excellent ...
Pleased it worked out! !.

Some carbs, particularly Edelbrocks, are very sensitive to fuel pressure too, so worth investing in a regulator.
