Many thanks for the information :)

Sorry to hear about the initial problems. Must of been a real headache and extremely frustrating! Four clutches were destroyed, and this is because of the mounting position of the master cylinder?

Do you know exactly how much the transmission tunnel is required to be widened? The reason I ask is that I'm restoring/customising the interior at present. I'm about to purchase a replacement carpet and my concern is that it won't fit correctly if I'm to follow this route? Also, will I need to ditch my centre console in favour of one specific to a manual car?
Tunnel doesn't need to be widened with a Tremec as they're actually quite small, and lighter by about 30lb than a TH350 (which all helps).
Only actual mod is to open up the hole for the shifter, but you'll need to get a set back shifter or it will hit the dash.

The console will fit, but the auto hole will be too large, so i solved it with a BMW 540 gator and a little blanking plate to fill the gap.. I'm not sure if a proper manual console will work better, and they're very hard to find..
I actually would one day like to make a custom console with the right size shifter hole with a couple of extra gauges/switches, cup holders, charger socket etc...

Thanks for the link :) If a T5 was strong enough I'd go with one of them, alas they're only rated to circa 350 lbs ft. My ZZ4 is already making around 400 lbs ft.

Real shame, since they're the right price for certain! :)
I think T5's can be built up pretty strong for not crazy money. Maybe speak to some one like http://www.gearboxman.co.uk/ they rebuilt mine for a good price when 1st gear failed.
Thanks for the link, I phoned those guys the other day. The price is pretty much like for like, I'd be better off with a TKO of some description since the price is very similar to having a T5 brought up 500-600 lbs ft. although a T56 Magnum would be better still ;) although I'm unaware if it can be fitted to a Chevrolet small block as such.

What type of gear stick did you use, custom made perhaps? I shouldn't think getting a gator made up should be a problem, there's a sewing machine available...with someone who knows how to operate it ;)

The T56, particularly the Magnum is bigger and heavier than the TKO, o whilst the T56 will fit in without tunnel mods, I'm not sure on the Magnum.

In this pic you can see my interior pretty well, and it shows the standard auto consiole with BMW gator, the spacer plate is missing here (as it falls out sometimes.. )... but also shows the shifter a bit and how it is set back. No idea what it is or from where as Alders sourced it, but don't think it's unusual at all..

I can't remember the exact shifter number for our gen, i have one at home and the receipt somewhere. It looks a bit like this: http://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/h ... /overview/ maybe more like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hurst-Chrome-Sh ... 1221254806

Main things is it needs to curve back towards the driver as you can see in Chevy Stu's pic.

I think mine's more like this, as it's quite short.

Thanks for sharing the info and picture there :)

I'd probably look to getting hold of new reproduction centre console, when I've decided on whether to go ahead with a manual conversion. From looking at the parts available via Rick's Camaro's it appears the console for manual cars has the shifter opening further forward.

How do you find your TKO transmission in all? Worth the expense, far more driving pleasure? No faults now that it's properly installed?

Much appreciated for the link there :) Aesthetically quite a nice piece too :)
