Has anybody found a way to bleed the clutch on a 4th gen? Mines biting high and as I'm sure you are aware there is no bleed nipple and a replacement unit is coming in at over £100 with shipping and taxes, there has to be a way......

dont loose hope, there is a way. I think the setup is the slave is a cylindrical one over the input shaft of the gearbox, apparently there is an access hole in the bell housing to get in, but its hard work to get into it. I may be wrong but they are the same on hsv/ holden monaros etc

Ahh, that's probably the one on an LS1 engine if it's similar to a monaro, mine is the LT1 and it's easy Enough to access the components it's just that GM decided when they designed it that they wouldn't put a bleed nipple on it anywhere , the idea is that you buy the complete assembly from GM (master, slave, rod and hose) already assembled and bled and swap the entire system out, not so scary if you live in the USA as it'll cost you less than £50 for the lot but here it's going to cost me about double that with the import and taxes, plus I'm a bit of a raspberry ripple and have to pay somebody to do anything that involves more than a spanner or spade connector

Yeah and they won't ship with the fluids in it either. The other long winded option is to syringe out the fluid from the tank under the hood and refill with fresh fluid. Drive the car a few times and then repeat. Do this a few times and it should refresh all the fluid

That sounds likes aplan, but if they won't shop with the fluids in what do they reccomend you do when you get it?

Would it be an option to get that unit (free of fluid) and while it's in that state, find somewhere local to install a bleed valve / fluid top up unit? Or even.... take yours off, take it to a place that would install a bleed valve, and have them drill the whole that also drains the existing fluid?

That could beat play , the general consensus of opinion on forums is to pump the crap out of the slave and watch for the bubbles to appear in the master cylinder, the issue I have is that if for some reason the newly installed bleed nipple isnt all it's cracked up to be I have to pay someone again to remove it and replace it which can get expensive after a while
