Yeah i spotted that black V6 on ebay too, really looks like he has gone to town on it but when you have guys selling IROCS and Z28s at around the same price in VGC i think he is going to have a hard time, just my thoughts though. :think:

Actually I would like to get people thoughts on guide prices through the models in lets say a stock and good condition?

3rd gen V8 manual £4000

4th gen V8 £4500
4th gen V8 manual - £5000

Mind you, I'm am looking to buy!

I think some of those prices are a tad optimistic, V8 manual 4th gens are like rocking horse poo,I have only seen one on the bay of fleas in the last 12 months which was a softop and had a blower and was around £7500 I think, autos seem to be getting quite rare and the couple I have seen people were asking around £7000 for , the softop was an LT1 and the other was an LS1 but still very optimistically priced by the sellers , 4th gen V6 autos are around 200BHp and seem to go for around 1.5-2k but the amount there are for sale should tell you nobody wants them, I think you are about a grand off on the 3rd gen prices as well and once again manuals are few and far between although just because that is the price I have seen them advertised for doesn't mean that's what they are worth or what people end up paying for them

I know what you mean - but I think you might be confusing advertised prices with sold prices:

Frankly, if I knew this was going to sell for only £4k, I think I'd have stuck a bid in too!

Ive seen so many varying prices its hard to tell but there is a difference whether its a RS, IROC, Z28 etc, i do have to agree there are a lot of 4th gens around but then again it is a newer car and probably far more imported than the previous gens, although I will probably be exiled from here I think I need to stick to looking out for a V6 manual, I have seen a couple of others go around the £1500-2k mark in reasonable condition and one of those was an RS on the Bay of e (why is it when you have the cash there are none!?) it really is a matter of cost for me but i will keep saving however and who knows, maybe I will get lucky with a V8 that may need some TLC at the right price, rather be a 3rd gen owner than not. :relaxed:

It is slightly maddening when there's a car you want and can afford, but there are none available!

There's always the possibility of purchasing an automatic and converting it to manual, but that's probably at the very limit of what I could manage mechanically, and getting the bits in the UK seems to be a bit tricky, although it's possible to import conversion kits from the US...

Car Details:1986 Camaro, bought into Spain by me in 1993.
305 replaced by a 355, 750 Demon carb, RPM AirGap intake, Brodix heads, Hedman Hedders, 3" Flowmaster exhaust.
Wheels are Summit aluminium 5 spokes, tyres are 245 rear 225 front BF Goodrich.
B/M transmission, battery relocated to the rear, GoodMark 4" cowl steel hood.
Location:Spain East Coast
A swap from auto to manual might mean a rear end gear change too.

I could live with a Auto, it was just that I was told by a guy who had a auto v6 that the gear changes were a bit all over the place? I would assume it wouldn't be as bad as he made out?
