If anything, in this weather it slightly underheats. I've never had any need to use the secondary fan. However I bought her in late October and drove her for two months (now SORN) I guess with cooler weather it's not surprising the water temperature stayed low. Come summertime I'll know if that electric fan is any benefit or not.

Thanks Those photos were taken straight after I'd finished the deep clean and detail session. There's still a few areas requiring cosmetic attention though. As soon as April arrives I'll be back to the local bodyshop.

My 3rd gen runs a bit cool when diving at the moment, about 60-70c. It either has a 165F stat or it's stuck open. Nice in summer but in winter could do with a bit more warmth in the car. When in traffic etc. it goes up to normal temps.

Ye we had a decent turn out last year, i think we had 10 on the stand. Even made in into classic car mag I'll upload that pic later as i don't have access to it. Here's a couple that i took below. Look forward to having you on the stand with us!

If it is a low temp stat change it, you need at least a 180F.
A motor needs some heat to operate efficiently.

I was pleased by the plate too, however technically it reads as WAZ 28. This ties in with the car being first UK registered in Northern Ireland in 1988. It does have a bit of a sinister look, although I don't know the "darkside" well enough to comment yet

I normally see around 180f when up to temp, a little more when stationary. I'd like some heat in the car too...but since the heater matrix absconded via the previous I don't have that option

I don't know if I've got a thermostat (sorry for the inexperience) The main fan runs consistently and the secondary electric fan is operated by a toggle switch. I generally see around 180f in currently temperatures.

The thermostat can be located by following the top radiator hose to the intake manifold. You won't see until you remove the hose (and spill coolant on the engine ). All cars will have them, after a while they can get stuck open / closed. They are very simple devices... a piece of wax metls and solidifies. When it melts (at given temperature) it allows the valve to open and let coolant flow. When the coolant drops in temp, the wax starts to solidify and is able to close the valve and stop coolant flow. For our cars, they are really cheap in the states, looked on rockauto and they are about £1 each. It sounds like your stat is the 180f one then if that's where it normally sits. It might be an idea to get a fan thermo switch (called something along the lines), i have one from Mr.Gasket, got from real steel for about £20/£30. It uses a temp probe that goes into a radiator fin and activates a relay that turns on the fan when it reaches a given temp. Really easy install. Comes with instructions, gives you an option to keep a toggle switch on too if needed so you can turn it on whenever you like (for example i used to park in a multistory and the temp would always get hot as i had just sat in traffic, then climbed several floors, so no air flow and the temp would get to over 100c (fan would kick in at 107c) so the fan was just about ready to kick in but you'd turn the car off and i didn't like the idea of it being turned off so hot, would have preferred to have manually had the fan come on so it would be about 20c cooler when turning the engine off). They come in different temp ranges, so you could get one that kicks in at say 210f, so that way if you're in traffic and it gets to 100c, the electric fan will automatically come on, then off automatically when the temp drops.

Looks very good and I would say has had caring owners unlike most ...
One small point - Buy or make a fan shroud , your mechanical fan is doing very little exposed like that .
Your engine will thank you when summer finally comes .

Thank you, appreciated She has been cared for, although the in the last ten years money hasn't been spent on cosmetic upkeep. She looks good in the photos, but there are areas where body and interior require attention.

You mention fan shroud, what is this and what does it do?
