Well I used to have a little Fiero GT which had the same GM 2.8 V6. And it was worse on fuel than my Z28 IROC-Z with its 5.0 TPI engine.

The V6 is very old school and only 130bhp ?. Think it was 140bhp in the Fiero. But still very low powered for its size.
On occasion (long motorway trips) I did actually get a calculated 30mpg from the IROC-Z. She used to just tick over at 1700rpm on the motorway.

Similar story with some of the recent more modern cars I have had.
2003 Laguna 1.8 16v manual. 29mpg Average at best.
2003 Laguna 3.0 V6 24v auto. 31 mpg Average.

Bigger engine doesn't have to work so hard to produce the same level of acceleration / performance as the smaller engine.

If you have a sporty looking car, swoopy lines promising performance.....you better have it.
Being left standing by some Euro crap...............

Buy Classic American mag., they usually have loads of ads private and trader.

Ha agreed! The first thing i did on the way home from viewing the Camaro at the weekend was pick up the American classic mag.

I will also give American technique a call tomorrow and find out the deal on the V8 they have there, have a feeling im going to need a little more time to save some more cash for a V8 but im open to all options.

whereabouts are you? have you considered a 4th gen camaro? i had a 3rd gen IROC v8 and now have a 4th gen SS , they are miles apart in handling and performance depending on your budget

Im in Surrey, just down the road from Capel village where they hold a big classic car show every year...you guys should bring your Camaro's down!

I have looked at 4th gens but they just dont pull me in as much as a 3rd gen, and when my heart is set on something....
I feel your pain haha, It may also not help you to know that there was a white iroc V8 manual on gumtree about two weeks ago, im sure it didnt sell as it ran its max ad days so keep an eye out.

It was however in N.Ireland and was 4.5K but looked in very good condition!

Ha, yes I spotted that too! Realising it was in Northern Ireland was a 'gritted teeth' moment!
