That's worrying with you being in quite a dry climate too! The one that i took off yesterday had polybushings, so looks like the ones i'm putting on are the second set too. Kind of tempting to go to a fastener place and get stainless bolts and bolts, maybe even cupwashers if they have them. The polybushings are actually fine still, just the steel that rots away. Would be worth it i reckon for the extra cost as you wouldn't need to change them ever again i guess.

Ye i hear you on that! Once the Camaro is on the road, hopefully by Christmas when i'll have some time off work, i will get under the front subframe, clean it all up and see what needs attention. It needs derusting that's for sure and new grease through the joints. Kind of tempting to pull all of the LCA's, springs, dampers, ball joints etc, get em blasted, powder coated, new hardware and bushings. Did this on the Camaro already and did everything but the sand blasting and powder coating - place around the corner from me did it for only about £60 all in. Made a nice difference on the Camaro, so thinking the same would be good here. I like how clean the rear of yours is! Would like to get it to that stage too. Then you can be sure it'll be good for another few years :thumbup:

On closer inspection of the squeaky sound, it appears that it's coming from the power steering pump. Will pull the alternator belt off on the weekend and see if the sound still persists, then i can be sure of which one the noise is coming from. Wonder how big of a job that is to change out? Or just live with it? I thought they went on for yonks! The steering works just fine, but i can imagine that a squeaky sound means something is starting to wear.

Well, got around to doing the other one today. Turns out this was also missing the bottom :shock: It was definitely there when i was installing the first one, so it must have been so far gone, that just connecting the assembly back up and adding some tension to it must have caused it to give way. I heard a mini thunk a few days ago on a b-road and put it down to some twigs or something, guess that must have been the of it falling off. All sorted now, next job under there will be regreasing all the joints as i dont know if its ever been done, so better to play it safe. Also changed the spark plugs today. Pass side not too bad but wtf when it came to the drivers side. My hands and arms are all scratched up and bruised. I had to sit on the engine to get the final plug out and the new one in :crazy: AIR pipes are definitely going :evil: Need to be sure of what size plugs to put in the headers, thin its 1/4 npt.

Car Details:1986 Camaro, bought into Spain by me in 1993.
305 replaced by a 355, 750 Demon carb, RPM AirGap intake, Brodix heads, Hedman Hedders, 3" Flowmaster exhaust.
Wheels are Summit aluminium 5 spokes, tyres are 245 rear 225 front BF Goodrich.
B/M transmission, battery relocated to the rear, GoodMark 4" cowl steel hood.
Location:Spain East Coast
I´ve been using Autolite plugs for years now, they were recommended by a guy who did circle track racing, said all the drivers used them.

Ah Autolites, i had those in the Camaro - seem to be the exact same fit and size as the ones that came out of the Trans Am. I put Champion ones in the Camaro, only because the Autolites were too long and couldn't get a few to fit due to after market headers. The Champion ones are just short enough to fit. Funnily enough it was champion ones that came out of the TA. The ones i got were from Rockauto and were the AC Delco's as i found on some of the U.S forums that those had quite a good rep. So far, seems to be causing a bang so can't complain lol. Think there is a bit of oil coming through, looking at the old plugs. Seem to have mainly carbon deposits on them with a couple with a bit of grit / oil on the threads. Bought the stem seal kit, new valve gaskets and tool that you recommended from Summit. Once the Camaro is running i can get started on that, just in case it takes too long, otherwise i will be without transport. Hoping to do that soon, before the new plugs get too oily. Isn't using too much oil at all. I've got 5w30 fully synthetic in there and thought that it would be seeping through everywhere but when i checked the level after a couple of weeks, it appeared not have changed.
