hey Dunc,

mines just c5 spec as the discs were much cheaper, plus only a little difference in c5 to zo6 disc size so I was happy with c5 setup.

Hows the blue car treating you, can remember talking to Brian a lot before he bought it (and the previous owner too ;) )
Loving it! :chevy:

It gets used every week day for work and been to a few shows with it.

Have you driven a manual one? Big difference to the autos. Love the sound coming down the gears.

Great to hear, it look a nice car when I first saw it for sale and glad its used every day.

I have driven a manual, they drive nice and torque feel in gear is totally different compared with normal auto, plus I drove my best pals monaro 6 speed when he had that, which was similar...

...saying that, mines a heads, cam, built auto, tuned, 3.42 gears and has a 3200 stall. So its not like a 'normal' auto. And i'd not swap it for a manual either, too much of an animal :D

Just checked out your photo's, it had a towbar?

Those don't look anything like the caliper brackets that are on it now! They are in red oxide primer and I don't recall seeing the strengthening bar between them either Jimbo, I'll get a photo when they get removed and re-fettled next week, if you know anybody with a vette that was pre 1997 I have some expensive brake pads to sell...............!!
Yes there was a tow bar - I took it off as I didn't think it would add resale value. I still have it in the back garden.
It was only used for a bicycle rack for the family centre parc holidays and towing a motorbike on a trailer.

I never found a top box to fit.....

The brackets that were on the car when I sold it were:

I still have the red ones.

jimbo, you mean you've got an lt1 with single pot brakes ? LS1 (98+) have twin pot calipers similar to corvete but discs are 1 inch smaller, I has 18 inch rims so needed 'bigger' brakes to look the part too.

if the discs are 12.99 inch then that's correct. Strange how the bmr brakets dont fit. I have some home made brakets my dad made, he's an engineer and we did the same and slotted the side to allow adjustment then welded up in place when they fitted correct.

I got these as a set to set the car up, the pads are ok for everyday driving but fade with more vigours driving ;)

cheap to sort the front, you dont really gain anything from slotted and drilled rotors unless really using the car on track, as they 'clean' the pads...which in reality means wear them down faster, then the drilled holes rust and the discs become weak !
Yes both cars (Twisted's SS and my current camaro) were Lt1 with single pots :(

Alas my current car still is.

I ended up doing the same as you. I got the holes slotted on ugly brackets from the bloke on a US board and then welded it up.

I believe that I can easily upgrade my LT1 to LS1 brakes with 2 pots, as the current car was cheep fun - I cant see me paying for new wheels all round to make room for corvette brakes.

Must have had a girl exhaust on it then, somebody has fitted a stainless system with twin "resonators" and it sounds the bizz now, 2000-2400rpm is my favourite tone :-) it's a beautifull car that had been loved and cherished before the guy I brought it from got it but has spent a few years being neglected and needs some time and money invested to bring it back up to standard again
I fitted stainless twin boxes (see the earlier pic). they replaced the transverse rear standard box (which rusted apart). The original buyer ticked nearly all the SS options, but one he didn't was the exhaust, so it really needed it.

haha those brackets are just same as mine, I just had them machined out of stainless steel and a pal used some billet rod offcut to make the offset spacers :)

LS1 is easy conversion, you'd need the drop spindles and the calipers then thats it. I sold mine on after to Chris on here who has an lt1, then he went and bought an ls1 too ;)

I think you tried to sell them to me too! If you had been the week before, I wouldn't have had ordered all the C5 parts and would have had them.. Got any more?

how much better are the Ls1 brakes? I've a mate in the US at the moment who could source me some bits and bring them back.
