ah, also these.

I think if you have the bmr brackets you could get the 340 mm discs depending on measurements ??

http://www.kore3.com/downloads/fitment_ ... OC0004.pdf (325 mm c5 discs)

See in the 325 mm diagram how the front if the caliper abutment bracket is over the angled bit of the disc, yours is too far away

http://www.kore3.com/downloads/fitment_ ... OC0013.pdf (340 mm discs)

Thanks Maudy, lots of info there ! I have a 1996 f body with 1998 corvette discs which have a different offset to the pre 1997 discs, is one of those off the shelf brackets suitable?

every 4th gen camaro 93 upwards would use the same aftermarket bracket for the brakes. So actaully the BMR one SHOULD have worked perfectly fine.

The drop spindles are cut on the camaro and the braket bolted on.

Then you should be able to simply bolt up the corvette C5 parts, all corvettes newer than 1997 (pre 97 are C4)

For the correct alignment with the disc, you need to be using C5 calipers, C5 abutment brackets (the bit the pad goes in), C5 pads and C5 discs 325 mm (~13 inch) - This SHOULD be everything you haev on yours unless something like the wrong pad was put in at some point. Or they are still using camaro LS1 style abutment brackets and camaro pads - but thats 'silly' as the complete conversion was done to an LT1 car, so all bits are done in one go. Jimbo had done this converson a while back and sourced all the correct parts so it SHOULD be fine....

Only thing I can think is that the disc you adaptor brackets were made for are 'universal' so are a best of both world for people to put on wither a 325 OR a 340 mm disc. The difference that the 325 disc is probably a bit too small.

If you can measure from your hub centre out to the edge of your caliper and it matches the diagram for the 340 mm pads (i.e. the caliper is far enough from the hub) then you should be able to run 340 mm discs and normal C5 97-05 pads

What kind of hubs do the 4th gen C5 brake conversions use, as I've got C5 325mm discs on my 2nd gen, as you say with matching calipers, abutments etc and conversion brackets, but mine runs cut down 3rd gen discs to convert into hubs to carry the discs.

Hey Maudy, I understand what you mean but it doesn't figure out as universal when there is a difference in the disc offset between a pre 97 and a post 97 ? This would mean that the brackets would mount the calipers but the different discs wouldn't fit , using the earlier discs than the ones that were fitted by Jimbo moved the disc braking surface back into the car by about 10mm so the brackets needed chopping down to move the calipers back to suit? Or am I misunderstanding ?
Cheers
Paul

stu, they use the standard camaro drop spindles, as they are integral to the whole front end suspendion setup, then a custom bracket (like the red bmr item earlier in this thread) to hold the C5 abutmentrs and caliper.

Paul, sorry if I wasnt clear on this from the beginning, non of these kits are for pre 97. Every kit is for a C5, they are all to 97-2005 model, the 325 and 340 discs are exact same offset from the hubs etc only larger in diameter. You don't want to be messing with any pre 97 brakes as they have no advantance as far as I can tell.

that makes it a lot clearer
i assumed that bacause my car is a 96 the brake conversion would have been done usiing brakes of the same era, so i ordered pre97 discs to replace the ones i have that jimbo had fitted, jimbo said he had problems with the new brackets not fitting and had to have them re-made then when i changed the discs for the incorrect ones the offset was different so ive had to have the brackets adjusted as well, the discs cost me £100 wiith some pads i now can't use and the postage and vat was £150 so it wasn't worth returning them, i would have ordered more and ended up doing £500 to change some discs and pads over plus i cant do the owrk myself any longer so i have to pay for any work i wan't doing, and the MOT is up in a few weeks........ i have a set of powerstop ceramic brake pads for a pre 1997 corvette if anybody happens to have one..

ah, makes sense now. I didnt realise you got the older discs, my bad.

for future reference, brakes are always cheaper buying over here, especially EBC ones as they are UK made :)

hope is all sorted now (or getting there), and if you ever need to go back to C5 discs and pads just get a set of the Kore3 brackets sent over
