Now that the temp is starting to cool, what do you plan on doing over winter? Taking your car off the road to do some maintenance / upgrades? Got a new project you're looking to do / to purchase?

My car will be used if the roads are dry and there is no salt on the road that said that will be fitted in between the gearbox (TH350) strip and rebuild and a the interior being ripped out for a good inner body waxing and the fitting of some insulation matting.

I know I will get board over winter so possibly more will happen, but shhhhh don't tell the wife as boadom often means spending money on the car

Some new 13" corvette drilled and slotted brake discs and pads, wheels refurbished and a new clutch but it'll be used all winter not laid up

I'd love to say, it's finally coming off the road to go and get some rust spots repaired and panels straightened out, and a full respray.....

But the reality is, I haven't got the cash to do that right now, so I'll probably still use it if looks dryish and gather more stonechips, rust, scrapes etc...... but have doing so !!

The car is off the road now up on stands. Got a great long list of jobs to get done this winter:

Already removed the 700r4 and am most of the way through building the 4L80E to fit. Need to get a suitable torque converter for it and I can put it back in - then need to make a new cross member and a load of other parts.

Need to build a controller for the 4L80 - going to use Megashift which communicates via CAN with the engine ECU.

Make a paddle shift set up for the 4L80 and get it installed and working

Replace the current plastic washer bottle and expansion tank with some nice hidden stainless ones - need to make these and I need to scrounge some stainless tube to do that.

Get the turbo headers made

Build up the short block for the turbo build - got most of the parts but the block needs a fair bit of machining work as well.

And a whole host of other stuff.

It's good to see that most people are able to keep their cars on the road

Flakmonkey, you have a good excuse for taking yours off the road, sounds like some exciting stuff happening :D With the stainless steel overflow... i'm using a stainless steel water bottle that i got from work for free :D Had a quick look on ebay and you can get them for a few quid, hopefully that'll save you some scrounging and welding :)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from= ... e&_sacat=0

My plans on the Camaro are to get it on the road lol and off the axle stands. Still chipping away at it.

For the trans am, service time is coming - oil, fuel filter, new battery etc. Got some rust on the bottom of the door where the plastic skirts have captured water, rusted, pushed the plastic up, scraping the doors every time they closed and opened, showing the bare steel on the bottom of the door where contact was being made, causing it to rust. So looks like i will be taking off the side skirts, seeing what's under there  sorting out what needs sorting out, straightening out the part that sits on the rocker (the part that is pushed up, maybe just due to heat warpage?), then sorting the bottom of the doors to stop further rusting.

Will start on the trans am once the camaro is on the road, incase the t/a is off the road for a few days.

Thanks 78Camaro you have given me another idea for preventive maintenance over the winter
It might be a good idea to remove all my chrome trim, the ones around the wheel arches more then others and give it a good clean and a bit of wax. Nothing worse then sitting water.

Seems like there will be a lot of people spending a lot of cold evenings in the garage  ;)

The Evilzee will be staying on the roads throughout the winter ;) I'm hoping it's a nice day on Boxing day, as I want to do a coastal run just to blow the cobwebs & Xmas blues away. What else am I goingto be doing?? well, i've got as new project on the go. Although it's a 427 shell I'm going to be cutting & shutting it to turn it into something like the pics below

As it is now
