I could try and find out as my friend used to work as PR guy for Gumball and is still in the loop so to speak.. guessing early evening if leaving Edinburgh 10am/midday..

That would be good if your friend could get a rough eta for the part of the country that we'll be in. The closest checkpoint will be Regent Stree in London, opening at 12noon, closing at 11pm (probably earliest arrival will be 2 or 3pm if they leave Edinburgh at 9am). Strangely there is a secret checpoint at what appears to be portsmouth / Southampton / Brighton. Not sure how accurate the route map is, but looks like they will taking the New Haven to Diepe ferry crossing. They aren't due in Paris until 6pm the next day, so thinking that they aren't doing Euro Tunnel (would seem a bit pointless driving Portsmouth to Dover when there are a few crossings already in that area). Also means they can take the more scenic route to Paris vs. motoroway all the way. This is all just me guessing from the map, so insider info welcome :)

From London Motor Museum:

The crowds are expected to be bigger than anything Gumball has experience so far, and Gumballers will be treated to the most incredible welcome as they drive down the street ready to display the cars overnight.
Looks like they will be staying in Regent Street that eve?
