is there anywhere in the north east that can set up and tune these? i dont think mine is set up right, on cold start it cuts out i have to keep some revs on for a min or so till it warms up and seems sluggish when its cold, also on a steady cruise sometimes the car surges and i have to take my foot of the gas and back on to stop it.

If you run a four barrel it really is in your better interest to learn how to do it.
You might need to do an adjustment on the road away from help.

The Edelbrock carbs are quite easy to tune, you can get a jet and rod kit from Real Steel, and have a play yourself.. I've heard Holley's are trickier.

One day I'll buy an air/fuel gauge and really get it right..

Holleys are dead simple if you just want to get them working OK and you're right, a WB lambda helps greatly in dialling them in just right.
Cheers, Martin

With Holley the 1st mistake many make is to go too big
Choose the right carb for your application and keep tuning to a minimum ...
Lost count of the people I have seen with 750 or even 850 carbs on perfectly normal small blocks that don't perform like they think they should...or even worse a multi carb set-up on a high rise and an ugly hole in the hood for that badass racer look...

Yup! Sounds like about every 'ProStreet' wannabe drag racer car. All show and noisy exhaust, not enough engine connected to it..........Hey Ho, that's just people for ya.......
Cheers, Martin

Check for vacuum leaks

Check that you have got the advance retard pipe in the right place, (on the pipe out of the metering block)

I would start of with the mixture screw's set at three quarter's of a turn out from stop, but don't over tighten them when your winding them in!

Auto or manual Choke?
