Quick update -

Front bumper, spoiler, rear bumper and hood, all in 180 grit ready for primer :)
Rear trunk filler panel, left and right fender in 120 grit, ready for 180 grit sanding.

When those last bits are in 180, then clean up of the garage to get rid of all the dust, then lay down the primer. That will be batch 1, whilst that then dries off, will be prepping batch 2 - the shell, doors and mirrors.

So i managed to get all of the front end into 180 grit, it's all off the car now. Spent a whole day cleaning the garage of dust etc, so didn't get time to primer and the weather now has gone pants. I'll need to do some basic masking to cover up things like the stands, that the panels are resting on. Looks like the weekend for primering, fingers crossed that the weather will clear up!

As soon as the vapours clear, the camera will be out and i'll post up the pics :) Just need the weather to hold out over the weekend. Temp should be decent, hoping the humidity will be low and no rain of course.

Well, no pics yet i'm afraid. Decided to add a few extra pieces to get painted in this batch - the inner fender wells and some of the brace / struts that are in the engine bay, so had to sand / scuff / clean those up. The inner fenders were red, but after having them installed and working on parts of the engine bay, they got scuffed here and there and lost their shine pretty quick. They also showed a lot of minor imperfections so didn't look too great. So they will be going satin black, along with some of the other parts that go in the engine bay. It will show less faults and imperfections this way and make any touch ups needed a lot easier to deal with. Need to have another sweep / dust out and clean all the parts up, so probably Wednesday / Thursday to get the primer and satin black down.

Turned the engine over yesterday by hand, added some oil to the cylinders through the spark plug holes. I think i got oil on the tops of the cylinders, hard to tell if the piston was up or down. Gave it a few turns and added oil bit by hit, so chances are they got a bit of a coating, i hope. Rotated smoothly, will put in the new shorter spark plugs tonight - the headers on there mean that the standard size plugs are too long, so you can't install the standard length spark plug as the header pipe is too close to the block.

They must be pretty tight headers. I've had a 2 or 3 different headers on mine and no spark plug size issues, some are a a bit tight to fit and remove.

For what it's worth, the headers are flowmaster, got them from RealSteel. If i remember right, the standard plugs would just about be ok, if they were already installed and you just placed the headers ontop. I can't remember why but i had taken the spark plugs out, maybe to inspect (was a while ago lol) and put the headers on and struggled with a couple of the plugs. So maybe it's a case of installing the plugs first, then the headers and no issues that way.

So Saturday late afternoon, i'm there, all the parts degreased several times, garage swept and then gone over with an air blower adapter thing on the airline a few times, everything tack clothed, paint out, paint gun setup, paint strainers ready, mixing cup ready, etch primer open ready for mixing, decide to put on mask, unpack the new pre-filters... different shape. hmm. they are triangle, should be round. Well, luckily, the triangle had a larger surface area so i cut out the right shape. Phew. Next, carbon / charcoal activated main filters opened from packaging, round, look spot on the same as the old ones, go to attach them to the mask aaaaaand... computer says no. Despite being the exact width and depth etc, the lip around the edge on the new ones that creates the seat and seal to the mask are on the inside middle, whereas the old one and the mask are on the outer edge. Tried all sorts of ways to make it work but just wasn't happening. A serious amount of swearing then ensued, making both Goodfellas and Scarface sound like bedtime stories for kids. Why oh why would they make the exact same filter but with slightly different mounts. Why. Beyond stupid and annoying. Even the pre filters that specifically said Moldex 8000 series, were triangular instead of round :wall: :wall: :wall: So now i have to try and find a supplier that sells decent masks and the correct replacement filters, that will deliver within a week. Not a happy chappy. I guess it's my own fault for not checking, but what's the point of having model numbers and compatibilty based on model numbers, when they don't go together. It's a waste of money buying a new mask but i can't risk losing another weekend due to wrong / incompatible filters being sent out, despite model numbers. grrr.
