Well, it's fallen through. This van was a lemon. 26k miles my arris, 126K miles more like.

The geezer wanted £3500 from me and when my Dad turned it down he stuck it back on eBay with a BIN price of £2900 !! What a joker.

So I'm now stuck with a flight to London, coach and a channel tunnel ticket :( Why can't people be more honest ? I even spoke to the guy last week for about 20 minutes and he didn't mention any of the fault. Saggy headlining, damp, worn out leather seats, rusty screws inside, door held open with pieces of wood etc etc.

Some you win......

You have had a lucky escape!

count yourself lucky

there are masses of these knocking around and without LPG they are vitually unusable esp. if they are post 2000 (?) with higher VED.

I worked out that a 1200 round trip- ie London to Inverness return- which I do quite a lot would cost the equivalent of an ADDITIONAL 4 nights in a reasoanble hotel if taken in a Dayvan over my boring (! quite) car!!

So keep a look out and another will turn up

Tony G has a few for sale at American Autopparts

Sorry it fell through for you - I know how disappointing that can be.

I agree with you COMPLETELY about "why can't people just be more honest". The number of times I've gotten all excited, driven to see a car, sometimes hundreds of miles, only to find something so far removed from what was described..... the really stupid thing is that in a few cases i probably would have bought the car if I had gone knowing what the faults were, but when I see something completely different from what the guy has told me, I then wonder what else he is hiding. I'm sure that sometimes people must have bought a car from me only to find a problem downstream, but I can't remember EVER trying to hide anything or mis-leading someone. Hell, we're all enthusiasts aren't we, who just want to share the fun and enjoyment....

Rant over!!

I went to see a "genuine" NYPD Cop Car, had been used in the latest James Bond film, ran sweet etc.

However, having flown to London from the Isle of Man, and then taken trains across london to Essex, it turned out to be a clapped out NY Cab, painted (badly) over in white with NYPD stickers on, still ahd the taxi diveder screen etc, and yellow everywhere, door shuts, under the hood, trunk etc. It was knackered too, barely got it starting with a battery that didn';t fit, terminals wrong way round etc. Junk.

BUT, I travelled a bit further and got the lovely CV I have now, a real genuine Retired Cop car and well cared for. Get on that plane anyway and line up something else to look at, it may just be fate giving you another avenue.... :?:

Got another one sorted :)

Still coming over on Thursday, will pick it up Friday from Manchester. Very happy and releived. Looks alot better too.

I'm still surprised that you didn't buy the Mercury GM that I ended up buying from Bristol. The car was on the IOM for 10 years although admittedly it wasn't used much. It was really exceptional and cheaper than you would beleive. Right on your door step too.

The red tomato didn't make reserve - do I don't I ?

I never even saw that Mercury, it can't have been used much, or advertised locally either! One of my Manx Yanks would have seen it!

How are you getting on with your Dayvan? If I sell my Sheriff, I think a day van is going to be next. G20 or an Astro.

What's that 4.3 Vortec like, I know its 2 cyls short.....

You've got to buy one, they're brill-yunt !

Funny how Nigel said about "going all Chrysler on us" because I bought a Sebring convertible last month and on Saturday I picked up another 4th gen Camaro (Black V6) so I'm back on board.

I would have posted last week but I got the 'hole with the PM system. I spent 15 minutes writing a message to Nige and then lost it when I hit send

Later :)
