Hi guys,

I'm wanting to order a AC bypass pulley from ZZPerformance but ( if I'm honest ) I'm a little nervous about ordering it from them as I have no idea how much I'm likely to get charged ( if anything!? ) for import duty when Post Man Pat comes knocking on my door,

Has anyone else ordered one of these from them in the past?

Well tax for importing car parts is - import duty 4.5% + 20% VAT on top, plus whatever the couriers may charge for handling.
the shipping cost will probably be the largest amount. Quite often small parts are no cheaper than big bits.

So at a glance that is $39.99, that's about £25, so + import & VAT = £31.35, plus whatever the handling is.. plus of course the shipping...

(these are rough figures, don't hold me to it)

There's a link on here that i posted recently, can't remember where, to HMRC's website that shows how the rates are calculated. It's as Chevy Stu says, with a slight difference being with the customs duty, in it being only charged for a receipt value of over £130. If your car is tax exempt (pre '74) , you can also claim the VAT back, though this is not as simple but maybe worth it you've got a large amount of goods being shipped over. I'll need to find the link for that too, it is somewhere on HMRC's site.

How to post pics: When writing a message, scroll down and use the "attach file" option. Where possible, a photo sharing service can be used such as Flickr, Imgur etc. The image location (usually ending in .jpg) can be copy and pasted between the ][ brackets that appear when you click the 'Img' button (you can find this button at the top of the message box).

How to post youtube vids: Click on the 'youtubeHD' button at the top of the message box and in the middle of the ][ brackets that just appeared, copy and paste everything from the youtube web address that appears after the = sign i.e if this is the url: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2cNqaPSHv0 just copy "K2cNqaPSHv0").

Yeah, been talking about this while... not gonna happen. Typical EU interference. (some insurance companies offer 'black box' discounts or condition on certain high risk drivers to keep track of their speed and driving habits)

Low Emission Zones are however an issue, happens already in quite a few German and Italian cities, with older high CO2 cars literally being illegal to use.
Happened already with diesel vans and trucks in London since 2008 with charges (£100 per day fine ) for older non Euro3 or 4 compliant vehicles. You'll rarely see a van or truck more than 12 years old in London now.

I think if that did happen, ways of bypassing them would suddenly appear, no matter how illegal and tricky if was..
