Thanks topcap, i have seen that post about the bulb sockets and it may be an option for future use but i have a set that are working for me. Where did you have butch MOT tested, was it at Scott Racing or taken elsewhere after they did what was needed.

Sportsroof - where are you located? Or know of any good MOT tester near RAF Lakenheath?

Only thing left to do is connect my washer to my factory switch. Anyone know what color wire is attached to a factory washer motor?

Hi Nick, I am in South Wales, bit of a trek for you if you are at Lakenheath and sorry, I don't know any testers in that area. Try talking to other owners of similar cars to see who they recommend, but to be honest, any MOT station should do the job without any special favours. The MOT manual is available online : http://www.motinfo.gov.uk/htdocs/m4i00000101.htm
so if they try to fail it on anything you think they should not, question it and if there is not a reason for rejection in the manual, it cannot be failed!
Contrary to popular belief, the MOT is very soft really and only really bad stuff should fail, although there are some things like incorrect lights etc that will fail just for being incorrect. It can be a bit of a minefield BUT the more info you have, the better for you. Good luck

Thanks for the info ill review it before i get it tested, I'm pretty sure it is good to go now. Thought it would be easier if i had someone that had tested an older american car would make the process go smoothly. wish me luck i plan on finding a tester tomorrow, im running out of time (has to be tested within 30 days of entering the country)

So i took her to a shop today to get tested, talking with them before had and it looked like it was gonna be a good test. After checking the lights, washer, and other basic items... ran into a problem. Apparently when you first enter the car into the system the tester must enter the "vehicle first registered date" or "first time it was operated date". The tester was not sure what to do since i have no paperwork that would say that information. All of my previous registration paperwork or title does not include that original date. What has everyone else done after importing a vehicle and getting it into the UK system for the first time? The tester was not able to speak with the national hotline or his rep that handles these questions so he said he will call me on monday. I figured you guys are my best chance outside of waiting for that phone call. Thanks for any info!

Nick, I have had to do first UK MOT for a number of US cars and when asked to give 'first used' date, just use something that's about right. In your case I would use 1st March 1968 but you could use anything you like. The MOT tester should not really care too much, this is an older car so exempt from many regs. Sometimes they just need a little 'help', use it to your advantage.
