I had a couple of questions for anyone out there with more knowledge than me.... so basicly everyone. Currently completing the changes need to get MOT tested and would also like to plan for the future.

Would a front 'Phantom' grill be legal here, asking because they cover the headlights. Im doing an H4 conversion so brighter than standard bulbs.

I got a set of headlights like this (right hand drive version for UK roads) and they have small bulbs inside them other than the headlight bulbs. Can I wire the turn signals into those small bulbs if they were amber bulbs or is that not possible because when headlights are on you may not see them flashing.

Has anyone swapped the old factory windshield wiper blades with new modern ones?

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Now i just need to finish installing/modifying... headlights, turn signals, 3-point seat belts, windshield washer, horn, etc. Wish me luck haha

I think you're right about the sidelight bulb in the H4 units not being visible once the headlight is on. The beam will totally blind and over power the smaller lamp.

I'm sure Martin (Sportsroof) can answer this one, I'm sure he'll be along later. I don't know how much that grille is, but I bet it aint cheap, why not put a proper hideaway grille on as they look much better IMHO :thumbup:

Man, I hate when people mess with a car and want the MOT tester to sort out the problems.
So here goes:
AFAIK, if you want to stick your headlamps behind bars, go for it as long as the dip beam pattern is not affected. Your call.
Your car must have 'white' position lamps to the front, one each side. No stupid colours.
Your direction indicators must be amber in colour, one each side.Traditionally they would be 21W so you can actually see them but if you are comfortable using weaker bulbs and they are clearly visible, you will probably get an MOT.
Whenever I convert a US car to UK lighting requirements, I do it right, with 21W bulbs for indicators, proper position lamps etc so it all works, looks right and causes no problems at MOT time. What's not to like?. HTH

chevy-stu... i agree that i dont think those small bulbs will be bright enough with lights on so im looking to keep the standard turn signals.

evilzee28... I absolutely LOVE the look of the RS front grill and it looks fantastic! A conversion kit from standard to RS is 400+ USD not including shipping. The 'phantom' grill is about 200 USD no shipping and i dont want to spend that either. My plan was to build a grill which would cost less than half and was trying to see what options i have. I will prob make something that fits inside the factory trim. Fixing what i have.
Currently my grill is broken... and paint i worn really bad on the trim (not pictured)

sportsroof...My intention was to have a MOT tester not have to fix anything. I am doing all my light conversions etc myself so i can go to a tester and they just verify its all good. I am just trying to get as much information I can from reliable people such as yourself. I appreciate any and all help i can get.
--dip beam pattern is something i will look into, not even sure i will do that grill just curious about what it might affect and it appears dip beam pattern would be the problem.
--'white' position lamps... these i will have to add... the MOT tester on base said i didnt need those when i asked about them last month cause of the age of the car, but i believe you since im sure you have more experience with older camaros
--I will also look for a set of 21W amber bulbs for all four corners

Nick, you misunderstand, I did not mean that you were looking to get a tester to actually fix the car for you. You are doing the right thing to ask (and fix yourself) before taking the car to an MOT. I was just venting a bit cause when modded stuff comes in it is a minefield and takes a lot more time and effort to sort out than an un-modded car.
Easiest way for you is do what I do: 7 inch headlamps with built-in sidelights which you use as intended (ie just as sidelights) These you have already.
Then you use the original indicator units just as indicators, not as dual sidelights and indicators as original. This means you have 'white' side lights in your headlamps in the correct position, and your indicators can be amber (either amber lens or just amber bulbs) which is correct also. Amber indicator AND sidelight would not be right.
Have to say I'm not a fan of 'custom' type stuff like the grille you show. Personally I would run the original damaged and tatty factory grille, to me it looks better but I know I'm weird, I race. HTH

Edit: just noticed you don't have front indicators: Consider doing as I have, fit motorcycle indicators (lots of different shapes and sizes) discreetly. I actually have mine behind the grille (Guilty) but I have a valid reason.........

Hi Nick, that grille looks repairable, could you post a few more pics of it please? is it just that the "uprights" have come away from the horizontal parts of the grille, or are there parts missing from it ? Do you have the headlight surrounds that go with it?

Had a long day of working on her but made a lot of progress.

This is something i would not have had a MOT tester do :) ... Turn signal switch was broken... swapped it with a new one and fixed my wiper switch and acc socket while i was in there.

The front grill is broken at the verticals I would have posted other pictures but today i got some plastic epoxy and its under the clamp right now. My grill has the factory cutouts for turn signals and i have the housings so i will be using those (got new bulbs today). But I was thinking of using motorcycle signals if i changed it to that billet grill.
I have the Trim pieces too... Image

Headlights - Complete
Turn signals - 75% (need to swap rear lenses and bulbs)
Horn - 75% (installed need to finish wiring)
Wiper blades - Complete
Windshield washer - 0%
Seat belts - Waiting delivery
Sidelights - 0% (need to wire)

after fixing the grill i had the trim parts off and didnt like that the paint was all chipped and since i was painting the grill i just painted it all... The plus side is that i now have all signals and hazards working
