I want to take off the Aircon on my 91 Z28 5.0L, im Struggling to find a belt that will fit.
I've given Mr Woolfe Racing my Vin number but they cant seem to find the right belt. However they
did say be careful as its showing on the computer a serpentine Drive belt. And told me to measure it
By using a piece of string then sending it to them. Surely there's a better way of finding out. ?

Hi,

Which engine do you have? I find if I need to source generic part numbers for stuff like that, browsing RockAuto will often give me more clues as to generic part numbers that can be found off the shelf.

If you have a 5.0 TBI (L03) engine then the belt is a 6PK2403. Do you plan on running a pulley where the air con was or completely remove it from the serpentine belt belt line up?

Hi Andy,
Thanks so much for your reply. My engine is a 5.0L TPI and yes I will be completely removing
the whole Aircon unit Including pulley. Ive looked at the rock auto site and cant work it out.

Ah, not familiar with that engine are going to be running a dummy pulley?

If not then yes, the idea of running a piece of strong would work, or alternatively an old belt.

What you need is the 6PK (which stands for the 6 rib poly-v belt) and then the number. The number after is the total length in mm.

So the example I gave for my car 6PK2403 is a 6 rib poly-v belt, which is 2403mm or just over 2.4m long.

When measuring don't forget to allow for your pretensioner and depending the belt route make sure it presses down on the flat side.

Apologises, a lot of mistakes and I blame my phone, honest!

String, not strong

Tensioner, not Pretensioner.

Hopefully it'll make some sense, if not, I'll try again :P

Ive removed smog and a/c from mine, and then made a little bracket with an old roller tensioner on it to keep tension over the water pump and to give me some choices from belts (seems i can adjuster the bracket). When you take off air con you wont have your old tensioner anymore.

The bracket is ugly as F### at the minute, but will properly machine one when Ive finished everything else on the car lol.
