The Camaro Club (UK)

It isn't actually my car, it's my godfather's (my dad's best mate) and for some daft reason he trusts me to get it sorted! If I'd known how much of a pain in the arse it was going to be I might not have agreed to take it on! Once it's done I'll be giving it back to him, not sure what he will do though.

There isn't really that much left to do on it now.

I've enquired with Hawk about those bits that I need for the roof and a new set of rear light clusters as one has water ingress and the other is cracked.


To do list:

*get the little triangles either side of the roof off and powder coated
*the interior needs a good clean and a slight repair to the driver's seat
*boot popper needs attention, the lid unlocks with it but doesn't pop up, so I reckon it could be the struts
*possibly get the wheels refurbed as the paint on them is looking a bit flat now
*figure out why the A/C isn't working - according to my godfather he's tried to have it re-gassed but it made no difference, so I'm wondering if it could be the compressor or something else?
*check the cooling system, possibly replace the thermostat and a temperature switch - the dial doesn't work and the fan comes on within minutes of the car running - any ideas?

I think that's everything! Still quite a bit but I've finally managed to get my garage sorted and get the car inside at my new house so might be able to spend some time on it regardless of the weather!

And when you hand it back will there be any reward?

In saying that any car is worth saving if someone is passionate enough about it.
I know 4th gens get a bit of stick about their image but they have a lot going for them.
No-one can say for sure whether a couple o decades down the line that they,ll be as unloved as they appear to be now. A V8 4th gen gets you a proper muscle car experience for little money.

GOOD NEWS!

After months of being lazy and getting pissed off with it, I've finally got my arse into gear and got things moving.

After a burst brake pipe stopped me moving the car I neglected it a bit, that is now sorted. I got a new copper pipe made up, and put on the car, with a bit of F'ing and blinding I managed to get the brakes all bled and fluid replaced. I also managed to get a pair of 2nd hand rear lights and a pair of replacement roof mechanism arms which should sort the roof out once and for all!

After that theres only a few niggley things left to do, but in all honesty I'll probably I'll not get round to them before I give it back. I don't have as much time for it now as I used to, and I've got things I want to do on my Audi which I can't do because this is taking up the room!

When all else fails, I find a stern helping of F'ing and blinding always gets the job done!
