Ask and you shall receive! Hi everyone, I've been pretty rubbish at supporting this forum and for that I apologize, I promise to make more of an effort this year! There has been plenty of progress which I am yet to post, but I'll build up this thread a little at a time to where I am now, to start with I'll take you back to July 2011...
I bought a new repair panel to help tackle the damage around the rear window...
Cutting this panel out wasn't too much trouble but did require some persuading! Underneath the metal was solid except for some minor surface rust which was rubbed down...
Again I sealed the lot with two coats just to be on the safe side...
The new panel sat in a treat, I had to mock everything up to be sure I was happy, but no surprises so I proceeded to weld...
I also tackled the rear window base where the sail panel comes round, again this was rotten, so I cut some pieces to repair these areas...
With a little tweaking here and there I tacked the new piece in place...
How it looked after I'd welded it up, I did tidy it up afterwards...
I then moved onto the other rear window repair, left plenty of green on it so I could trim back accordingly to the new quarter...
And the finished product...
Got the other side tidied up too...
So then I decided to seam seal the arches and prep for rust-sealing, got both sides sealed ready for painting...
A view from the back of the new panel, this truly saved me so much repair work, and I found the fit pretty awesome too. Also swapped the trunk-bracket-rod-bar-holder thingy (the bit in middle) over...
Following that I couldn't resist a quick mock up...
More to come...
