Looks like I need new front Discs on my z28 (LT1 engine), so if I'm ever going to uprate, now is the time.
From previous research my options are:
- Corvette (c5 I think) conversion - Going to cost - Any idea how to source in the UK?
- quality standard items - grooved etc and uprates pads.
- LS1 upgrade. Are LS1 a lot better than the LTs?

Anybpdy got any advice suggestions. As ever I'd like to keep it cheep!

The brake upgrade is the most important upgrade in my mind when you have a Z28. The standard brakes are no where near good enough (LS1) with far too much brake fading. At speeds over 140 to stop they are just dangerous and fade instantly. I'm not sure if the fact that my tyres are all 275 x 40 x 17 takes more heat to stop (mine's a 98 LS1).

I upgraded to EBC discs which are dimpled and groved with the "Red Stuff" EBC pads. The red pads only seem to last around 20k miles though which for me is just over a year. You can get the Yellow pads but not sure how they perform when cold but are for track day use etc serious heat.

I haven't yet really tested to see how much better they are, as it is extremely rarely I will travel at speed and haven't been any where near that speed in the last couple of years but feel a lot more comfortable in driving the car knowing they are there.

I had a corvette C5 and those brakes were excellent.

Thanks Howie,

I know from web trawling that LT brakes are weaker than LS.....

I'm not so much a 140mph man, but I'd love the brakes to feel more powerful and really I'd like them to be up some gentle track days.

Sounds like Corvette upgrade is required. Damn thats costly :(
