Hi everyone my name is Paul im 42 and live in Nottingham,
Im self employed working along side by good friend and business partner.

Ive been into cars for as long as i can remember, thanks to my dad who was
a collector of cars

Which brings me to sharing my unique car with you. welcome to My 1989 Camaro RS 2.8 with under 2000 miles on the clock. (yes that is original mileage ) the car was brought from new and was driven on the very rare occasion for the 1st 3 years, then it was on axle stands in the garage until last year. when it had its 1st MOT in 23 yrs. We naturally had to give her a full service, cleaned up the breaks, new V belt, hood & trunk gas struts plus a little body work on the front and passenger side.
This spring im having some dents removed from the Hood, a few touch up's on the bodywork, new 215/65/15 tyres and headlights.
The idea this year is to do shows further away from home. i will drive her locally but distance runs she will go on a Transporter because of the low mileage. we are doing a road trip to Belgium for 9 days. we cant wait until August :D

hello and welcome Revster...

Wow that is a proper time machine car.. 2000 miles..!!!!
How come it got left so long untouched ? I'm guessing there's a story there.

I remember pulling the door mirror off my old IROC on garage door frame a few months after I got the car... Right pain, as it messed up the door panel and whole door needed repairing/repainting in the end.. Grrr..

Hello Stu and thanks for your reply...

yes there's a story, isn't there always  My father had the car from new, he took the car to Americana at Newark in 1990 with me but never showed it, just parked in the car park :wtf:
Then on a blue moon he would take it out around the block. I hear you saying (what a waste)
but that was my dad, he liked good things but didn't like to use them.

I think it was around 2002 my dad was thinking about selling the Camaro to a friend and when he was getting it out the garage he made a mistake (something he never does) and scratched and dented the passenger side, he was so angry he nearly cried and pushed it back in the garage, to where it stayed.

In the first few months of 2012 my dad and me worked on a rare fiesta van he has (again with stupid low mileage) i convinced him to get it on the road and take it to a ford meet, the car won car of the month trophy. which gave him the buzz to get the Camaro up and running again, I said we would fix it together and take it to shows in 2013.
Sadly on July 6th 2012 my father passed away.
So i decided to continue to do it myself, the idea was to get her road worthy again, take it to a show (Billing) and Sell it. I hadn't got anywhere to keep it, and it wasn't going back in that garage again. at the billing show it was a day of mixed emotions, i laughed & cried but i something told me not to sell her. and my good friend Adey helped me build a garage at his house. which brings us to today. that is mine and the cars story.

cheers

Hi Paul,

Welcome on board and glad to have you here! That's quite a story you have and it does make you think about making the most out of what you have and the people around you, glad you kept hold of the Camaro and have it up and running! Hope to see you at some of the meets / shows this year and catch up in person!

Cheers,

Ray

Fantastic story

similar to the restoration of my Dad's old tractor which was only finished after both my Dad and my Mum had died!
see thread

It's all about the memories!
