Welcome to the site and I'll echo what everyone else has said, that's a really nice ride. How much did you drop the suspension by ?

Thanks mate. Don't know exactly how much she has been lowered but its pretty damn low at the front, no problems only when turning tightly and hitting a bump in the road at the same time?

Just seen the extra pics you've posted up, that's a really sweet looking car ;) with some very nice "parts" . What are the rear brakes off? Do you use it much? Do you have any of the build up pics, ? we like pics here  . Were you living in NZ ? Cheers..Nige
Thank you. The rear brakes are from a Holden, its garaged most of the time but I drive it any chance I get when its not raining or when there is no salt on the roads! She ain't a trailer queen shall we say and I enjoy driving her. I don't have any build up pics sorry. I went home briefly in 06 for a stint but have mostly lived the past 15 years here in the UK. Was a little unsure as to whether I should ship her over initially as the following in NZ for muscle cars is huge! not only that the weather is a bit kinder and we have some great outdoor shows. Besides that I only visit once or twice a year and that wasnt enough for me to fully enjoy the car hence I made the decision to send her over!! Im keen to go to a few shows myself this year but I'm not sure which are the better ones to visit? Americarna looks good and the Summer Nationals etc? cheers

yeah, wheels day is good, they had 2000+ cars there last year. Otherwise, most of the shows are up North which isn't good for us Southerners :(

Hi
Agree with everything said here

Lovely car

Wheels look spot on in my view

My advice would be NOT to Tub it-- you will lose value (of the car) if you do.
I wouldn't go IRS at the back- a properly located solid axle is perfect-- would recommend GlobalWest delurum bushings and their clever waisted leaf springs.
If you want more compliance I would suggest you go for Carbon fibre rear leaves--I have them on the back of Camilla and they are more responsive to bump. Mind you you need to team them up with VG shox-- recommend KOni, or best are Bilsteins (we have a spare set revalved by Harvey Bailey) -- or Pro Tech double adjustables-these we have on Butch.

Nice car!...IMO 17 inch is just about right for the wheels...no idea if cragar make a 19 inch wheel, but they look pretty similar to Torq thrust II's so you might need to go that route if you really wanted 19 on the back! Back spacing is the big issue with larger wheels...to clear suspension/leaf springs and not bottom out every time you hit a pothole (lots of those around these days!).
I can recommend Burnham Autos (ask for Paul) if you want suspension mods or any good quality work done to sort out your car...
Builds rods to a high standard and is a 100% guy if you are in the South East. I'd trust him with any job on my Camaro for sure (and I'm not related in any way I'd like to add!!!).

As an aside I'm interested to know why the low profile/big wheel thing has taken off so much. Look at the fastest cars in the world- Formula 1 and the top drag cars...they have big fat tyres not thin low profiles! Are they wrong and the pro-touring boys right, or is this about looks rather than performance? Discuss... (ha ha)!

I have 19" wheels on my 68 (9" on back and 8" up front), they hit the arches if you go over bumps or hit potholes (the car is standard ride height). Unless you are willing to mini-tub, I'd give them a wide berth. For the fronts, the inner archers will have to be removed completely to allow full suspension travel lock to lock.

After all my suspension mods, if they still give me hassles, I will be going down to 17" all round.

I second Laurence's comment on Burnham Autos - highly recommended.

Cheers,
Mark
