Personally I don't get the point of wasting a set of tyres just for the hell of it, but I guess it interests some people. I try to stop my car spinning up the tyres, which it'll do quite easily without the use of having to put on my brakes . Heck,.... if I drop down from 4th to 3rd gear at 70 mph & nail it they'll still spin up . I want more traction, not tyre smoke

True, but you can race and that's all that's important. I'm with Nigel on the traction issue (but less so), burnouts are really a no-brainer - getting grip is the challenge.

Got a few friends in Oz and apparently the law there takes real issue with cars in general. They are extremely strict with burnouts.. they will impound your car apparently when caught, no excuses. They even brought in a 'hooning' law (Oz vocabulary for people who like to to have fun with cars aka, look at them being hooligans in their cars, hooning around) that gives them powers to break up gatherings of cars, and allows the police to be extra anal about car mods, powers to impound etc. I thought they would be pretty relaxed out there but apparently not

Well, I have to say that the seemingly draconian police measures have largely been brought about by the actions of these people then. It could be said that our freedoms have been abused by some people, hence we need to be controlled. I tend to think police here (and probably everywhere) have better things to do than harass 'car guys' BUT these things always get out of hand when an element amongst the group decided to behave anti-socially (you know, revving up, burnouts, drifting, crashing etc) and soon after the police arrive. Then they get all upset and accuse the police of picking on them blah blah. So whose fault is it then?

I dont mind a good ol lengthy smoky burnout if someone else is doing it !!!
Only because i dont want the extra cost of keep putting tyres on mine

I have been known to leave a few number 11's in my street no ones comlained and if they did to me they can all do one
Its no were near as bad as loud music being played at 2am in the summer is it

Thats the good thing about the tc button if i want very little/no tracation turn tc off
if i want a bit more traction turn it back on simples
I must admit that the tc system is very crude on the later 4th gen

Well here in New Mexico we have no MOT and in the rural areas like mine, no Emissions testing, and I write citations for burnouts which is a $129 fine, but only if the judge is in a crappy mood, normally it's "don't do it again"
