I work in education, I'm primarily involved with stills and video. So 'lens based media' tech sort of covers what I do. :)

Not me. And at the risk of courting controversy, I had family caught up in the whole Dunblane event. Bit of a hot topic for me. ;)

I until recently had 4 airguns. Now only the one. Spent a few years in the army shooting big guns so haven`t really got the urge to apply for any licenses.

I am sorry to hear about your family and Dunblane- thing is it is the idiot behind the weapon that is the danger not the weapon itself- it is like that annoying tag "Speed Kills" no it doesn't - driving with undue care and attention kills (at any speed)- a hammer may kill (in the hands of an idiot) etc.

This is the thing, it's the twit on the trigger.... Handguns have no place outside a shooting range in my opinion..

I do have an old BSA air rifle with telescopic sight for the occasional target practice..

I used to belong to a rifle and pistol club. I was pretty good with a .22.
The thing is that unlike cars, hammers, screwdrivers and wet sponges, guns are designed for a pretty specific purpose - killing efficiently and effectively. This is why game hunters don't break out the mallets on safari, or why our police don't respond to armed crime with cricket bats.
And while my personal point of view is that rifles and shotguns do have a place in animal population control, I can't see any justification for the personal ownership of weaponry in our society. It's not a thing I'd want to have in my own home.

Anyway, as you can imagine, it's a discussion I've had repeatedly, that's my point of view, and I can respect yours. :)

Infantry 7 years. Tried a few things, shot at Bisley as well in Army small bore championships . Left regulars and done a bit in the TA before working for a living. But in regards to shooting different things started off in a rifle company and finished up in .......(you`ll like this) ......................anti tanks
