if not do check your alternator charge is it putting out enough
and if so check your Neg earth straps- often rusty

re Tyre wear - I wld defo get some alignement checks done- not expensive to see where it all sits at present -

somewhere here are the specs for std / fast road and race and drag frt suspension

im planning on lifting the car as it hits on speed humps, ive been told its had a 2" drop front and back, can anyone advise the easiest way to lift it ?

do these look like lowered spindles or stock? the rear still has leaf springs

rear is easy with leaf spring perch blocks

you can also find coil spring inserts (red)

I had some red poly ones at one stage

best solution is to fit some standard front coils- we fitted Hotchkiss ones to Camilla for correct height even if slightly unfashionably high.

I got some front coil spring isolators from energy suspension and they gave just the lift needed (approx 1"). I'm not sure of how to heighten a leaf spring though. Usually you can add a lowering block between the spring pack and axle to lower it, but i'm not sure how to achieve the inverse. Well, there is one way... air shocks :shh:

Do they look like lowered spindles or stock? Am I right in thinking just change the spindle as they are usually a 2" drop?, the 1" spacers might be enough it just catches speed humps but I also wanted to fit a front spoiler and don't want it getting smashed if I go to drive up a steep bank :p

They don't look like lowered type spindles to me the spindle or axle would be higher too lower the car?

and we are all repeating ourselves here on the way to raise the car, what ever you call it it does the same thing if you stick it in the spring, you can try in with some wood wedges, just jack the car up and wedge two pieces of wood in the coils of the spring and try it down the road, it doesn't need much something like an inch 25mm wedged in the coils oposit each other should do the trick :)

can anyone help that's done this before? ive tried searching for old threads but the photos weren't on onymore. ive took the panel off and took some photos, can anyone tell me what does what adjustment? or is there any that ive missed?

Car Details:79' camaro road & track day toy. 383 stroker, 5 speed TKO trans, lots of suspension stuff, 13" Vette brakes, 18" wheels.

They all mostly look like window alignment. The 2nd gen doors are slightly different, and others have had them apart more recently than me.

3 is the top alignment to stop rattle and adjust closed position (bugger to get just right), should be another one or two further back..

I learned the hard way and just fiddled with them all, probably still not right in reality..

Number 1 should have a counterpart near the door handle. These two are the main adjustments for inward / outward placement. If the glass is hitting the door seal too soon, then loosen these up and push the glass outwards a bit and tighten these bolts. Because you have one near the mirror and one near the handle, you can affect the 'caster' of the window too. So it maybe it's too close at the front, but letting in water / air at the back, so loosen the top bolts again (allowing the front to pivot) and pull the back inwards a bit.

5 and 6 allow you to adjust the front to back tilt, or pitch angle (rake). So if the window is too far forward, ie the sloped part gets caught in the frame and the backwards side is hanging low, then you can lower bolt 5 and raise bolt 6.

3 is as Stu says is for the anti rattle and positioning, related to 1.
