Just in case anyone is interested, I will be racing at Silverstone on 19th Oct with HSCC at their Finals event. I imagine my usual adversary Number 55 (Nick Savage) will be there in his '69 Camaro to make sure I don't get an easy time. If the weather is anything like it has been today it will be a good day. Last outing for us this year and last race for my current engine which is going have more fruit stuffed up it's tailpipe for next season. Heh heh.
Cheers, Martin

Oh Man! So many questions! Haven't had paperwork back yet so no schedule for times but I'll be there first thing (staying overnight) and we're usually out early for practice but racing doesn't start till afternoon usually. Don't know what entry for spectators is but usually around the 12-15 squid mark BUT if you know any racers they might have spare tickets.
If you can get your home address to me somehow (PM?) maybe I could post you a freebie.
Cheers, Martin

Yes, this year the first I am not driving to races after 13 years, plus 5 years of Sprints before that so I don't feel bad. Allows me to try a few things that I could not if driving to races. Plus the benefit of not worrying about getting home, I know I'm a wimp OK.
It'd be great if you could get footage/pics and I'll try to be reliable if I can!
See you there!
Cheers, Martin

wish I could be there too!

Scott racing now have HTTP FIA papers for their reshelled ZL1 big block 69 Camaro= only needed a metal boot and JL8 stoppers (which apparently work just fine)

I am going back with Butch and might revert to JL8s as my discs are standard size- get the FIA papers and come and get my doors blown off by HSCC competitors like you guys!!

Thanks for posting the vid Ray! Was good to have you there mate. Track conditions were not very good, unable to use power effectively for much of the time and braking greatly compromised, affecting lap times badly. All credit to Nick who left me dead and also sewed up the class A championship, good man! Pity there aren't a few more Musclecar owners tempted to give it a go. End of the season now, so look to 2014 for a new set of little battles......
Cheers, Martin

Car Details:1969 SS, originally a 396, now a 350. Never having raced an American V8 before, I am not the world's expert on Camaros ! But I read Road & Track and HotRod Magazine from the early Sixties (yes, it's the only thing I can rememberabout the 60s) and always wanted one.

Also race a 1965 Alfa GTA, and drive a 1938 Lancia Aprilia and a 1922 Talbot 8.
78Camaro,
Loved the pictures and film ! I did not spot this thread til today,so apologies.

As Martin says, a good day's racing : in May on the Silverstone GP circuit Martin in the Mustang whupped my *ss, but there's something about the National Circuit (1.6 miles) that my Camaro loves, so positions reversed in October.

The Camaro is fantastically well-mannered on a slippery/greasy track which is not what I would have expected of a 5.7L V8. Traction is great and the brakes (standard single piston sliding caliper front discs, drum rears) proved to be OK in the conditions. Sixth on the grid out of 33 starters and in the race, came seventh overall, my best ever general classification finish in 22 years racing (mainly small-cap Alfas).

The Chev weighed in at 1424kg after the race. The two Morgan Plus8s which were the only cars ahead of me in the over-3 litre Class, come in at 850kg, so I was pleased even to be on the same lap at the finish ! Roddie Fielden was not racing last weekend in his Plus 8.

This was my first full season with the Chev which I bought in mid-2012, and to uphold the honour of Classic Camaro Forumists, the car has won the Class A (over 3-litre) HSCC Historic Road Sports Championship for 2013. I have never had so much fun racing and looking forward to 2014 ... the 350-in engine has not been apart since 2001 so far as I can tell, so due for a birthday rebuild this winter : as I drive it to and from the track, the engine has to be roadable.
Best wishes to Martin and all here,
Nick S.
