 Post subject: Mounting My New Spoiler.

Car Details:1986 Camaro, bought into Spain by me in 1993.
305 replaced by a 355, 750 Demon carb, RPM AirGap intake, Brodix heads, Hedman Hedders, 3" Flowmaster exhaust.
Wheels are Summit aluminium 5 spokes, tyres are 245 rear 225 front BF Goodrich.
B/M transmission, battery relocated to the rear, GoodMark 4" cowl steel hood.
Location:Spain East Coast
I have just fitted the centre piece of the 1990 hatch spoiler I bought off Rocky.
As the lower part of the hatch had moved slightly, they do that over the years,
I decided to remove it and install the piece off the car.I was going to get it resprayed but not to lose time I did it.
First off support the rear hatch to remove the struts.
This is the second time I´ve done this so I knew it´s best to use a substantial support, one that does´nt let the glass flop side to side.
The glass is heavy, let it drop and it´ll bust.They make one helluva bang when they do break..........yup I know.

Then clean the glass and inner panel of residue gunk and sealer.

Luckily I got the holes in the right place.
I did make a card template but it was useless, I got the end holes first, placed the spoiler over them and pressed it onto the metal the studs marking the paint.
Then it´s close eyes, silent prayer and drill, pilot holes first opening them up until the spoiler fitted.
The holes on the inner panel had to be big enough to let the nuts pass, some filing was necessary.

The 1990 inner hatch panel is swaged differently to a 1986, they did it to hide the retaining nuts, they are hidden by grommets, on mine they look like this.

I had a high level brake light originally but when a hatch glass was available I jumped at the chance to get rid of it.
That meant the connections for the spoiler mounted brake light were in place, just connect.
I bought new bulbs for the brake light and after a clean up I was done with the centre part.

Apart from paint I´ve done it all, don´t trust anyone here.
And it´ll never go back to the place that did my last paintjob.

Here they believe in change the oil filter every other oil change.... :doh:
Where´s the sense in that ?

I had most of the car done when I imported it, just told them I bought it that way.... :lol:

I was looking at doing the end caps yesterday, seems there´s an awful lot involved in getting the trim
away on the left in the rear.
I will have to ruin trim clips to do it.
I need plenty of room to get my drill in there.
