Im am looking for the Yellow buffer box so i can check the signal from the VSS to see if this is working, and i cant find it.
I believe it should be on the passenger side close to the ECM. Next to the ECM is a black box with what looks like a circuit board inside. Has anyone got a photo of the buffer box in situ so i can have another look.
Thanks

Found this on ThirdGen.org.

"The "VSS Buffer" is under the dash at knee level, just above the large kick panel that covers the under side of the passenger side dash...It is a small, white box with a connector. It is not really by the ECM, but over to the left a bit..."

More to consider....

I used to be on that forum but it is very slow on responses.

"Hi, I'm not familiar with the part, but the diagram shows it behind the glove box next to the ECM. Go in thru the bottom--remove the sound barrier, remove the EMC, then remove the buffer. What I recommend is to see if you can get one at a salvage yard. Otherwise, they are about $50 on eBay. Thanks for using FixYa."

Hooray, i found it. Mine is white. The next step is to check if there is a signal into and out of this unit.

Just a quick update, We have an AC pulse to the Buffer unit from the new sensor in the gearbox. We also have a output from the unit, but still no speedo, so the next step is to get the guage cluster out.
