Thanks. Still have to get all the other panels to fit  Front wings need some minor weld repairs. Once I've got the doors on I can make the wings fit. Time consuming, but I'm not really in any hurry to get it done. Bit broke at the moment.

Yesterday I spent all morning blocking the car again. Well happy with the result now.

A day of playing with the drivers door fitment and the last day of working on it for this week I reckon.

Took all morning to get the alignment nearly right, pretty pleased with the gaps in the end. Reckon I've got about 5/16" between the bottom of the door and the rocker, and about 1/4" between the rear edge and the quarter.

It did take a bit of beating into shape, and I'm still not sure that its quite right around the bottom of the A-pillar. And a few hours with a sanding block again. Final job for the day was a v. light coat of epoxy to seal it all up properly. Nothing more to do on the main shell now. It's just all the bolt on panels to fit....

Not sure this is quite right, it all fits, but not sure about the alignment.

Hats off to you sir, that is looking very sharp!! Door to quarter gap looks perfect as does door to rocker. Bet you are feeling quite motivated seeing it in a more complete state :)

Thanks Ray. It's nice to be making some proper progress. Sadly my week's holiday is over, and it's back to evening and weekends only.

Was a bit worried about how the front fender was going to fit with the re-skinned door. So figured it was worth spending an hour trying to make it fit. Doesn't seem to be too bad, the gap isn't perfect, but only varies by about 2mm. Also doesn't quite sit right along the top curve, but sure I can fix that with a minor adjustment to the door skin with a large hammer!

The '80 Z28 fender vents also arrived, only 5 days after they shipped out of the USA. Not bad.

Took the fenders in for blasting during the week and picked them up this afternoon. A lot worse under the paint than I thought they might have been. Rotten along the top and rear edges too. The inner reinforcement is also fairly rotten. Not really sure what to do with them. They can be fixed, but I am in 2 minds about spending as much time making the GRP fenders fit properly. Would be the same amount of effort, but I then can't hinge the hood, it'd have to be pinned on. Plus I'd be out the cost of the blasting

Have given the fenders a light coat of epoxy just to stop them rusting overnight, now gotta decide what I am going to do with them. One thing I can't do is buy new fenders, that's not in the budget!

The inner reinforcement's pretty much gone too. Couldn't grab any pics, forgot before I turned them over to paint the outside.

I'll start chopping into them tomrrow and see what I find

Decision made...GRP fenders are going on. Those original steel ones are just too far gone and too bent for me. They could be used, but it will be a lot of patches and filler going in.

They don't have crash damage, but have certainly been well bashed and battered in their life time.

Looking at the amount of welding and fabing you have done i would have thought you wouldnt have given the fiberglass a second thought . Steel wings all the way  I know wich you will be most happy with when fitted and painted also very little outlay (apart from time ) YOU KNOW IT MAKES SENSE the time spent will be worth every minute Cheers Neil
