You can have some of my rust if it helps

Are you using rust paint to get the effect? I saw a car at Ace Cafe at Hot Rod night (need to upload pics still) that had a coating of rust paint on it. Gave it the petina look without the worry of actual rust in the panels

How to post pics: When writing a message, scroll down and use the "attach file" option. Where possible, a photo sharing service can be used such as Flickr, Imgur etc. The image location (usually ending in .jpg) can be copy and pasted between the ][ brackets that appear when you click the 'Img' button (you can find this button at the top of the message box).

How to post youtube vids: Click on the 'youtubeHD' button at the top of the message box and in the middle of the ][ brackets that just appeared, copy and paste everything from the youtube web address that appears after the = sign i.e if this is the url: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2cNqaPSHv0 just copy "K2cNqaPSHv0").

Ref the rust paint
I have bought some of the rust effect paint(From a manufaturer called Verometal) but could not get the effects how i wanted them.
This may be what you saw on the car at Ace Cafe.
This appears to be great for painting complete panels as the paint has 90% metal in the basecoat and when dry you rub the finish over with wire wool to expose the metal which then rusts (You can add a patina spray which helps the process aswell)
Once you get to the level of rust you want you can then seal it in with a matt laquer.

As i needed to create patches of rust that was different in texture and amounts of rust i ended up using six different colours of acrylic paint and learning as i went along with different combinations and washes etc.
Taking a close look at images of the actual film car this appears to be the technique they used..
Kept me amused !!!!!!

Is it just me, or this is actually nuts?
I'd prefer your approach of building the effect up.

Hi Steve,

You should be able to contact a member via pm / email... if you look at one of their posts i.e 1979si's above, at the bottom of the post you should find a button for 'PM' and 'email'. If you click that, you'll get a message window that you can write your message in. Email will be sent direct to their email address and pm will send a note to to their email to say they have a PM.

HTH

Cheers,

Ray

Took Bumblebee to Knightcon in Leeds the other week.
Fantastic event with loads of film and TV vehicles in attendance.

Bumblebee was on the red carpet on the main entrance along with Optimus Prime and some new Camaro SS and a Dodge police car

Did anyone here manage to along???
Estimated crowds were 25,000 to 30,000 people on the day :wtf:
