Hi guys,

I have an electric fuel pump (Carter Rotary Vane) on my 2nd gen carb'd engine. I was recently moving the pump to a better location (was already fitted by previous owner) and decided to download the instructions to see if there was anything i should be cautious of. They made it quite clear on there that you should install a regulator as it puts out just under 10psi and the Edelbrock carb likes 5 i believe. It seemed to run fine on the +2 hour drive home so i'm wondering 1) should i get a regulator and 2) if so, does anyone a) have one for sale or b) can recommend one please? I'm sure there is loss of pressure as the pump is next to the tank, so has to run the +3metre length to get up to the carb. I have 8mm / 5/16th ID stainless tubing and 12mm / 3/8th's rubber hosing in between the connections so i think there would be some loss of pressure?

Yes, the Edlebrocks carbs are very sensitive to fuel pressure. Both me and my friend with his 74' vette had running issues such as bogging of the line, flooding etc.. and both cured by pressure regulator (but we're both running mechanical pumps).
I've got a basic MrGasket regulator and gauge fitted on the inner wing. pretty easy to fit and easy to adjust.

Cheers Stu, you the man I'll have a search for mr.gasket, looking on ebay and too many questionable items on there that are made in China. What happened to your g-braces? or was this pic taken before they went in?

I was looking at something like this before you posted. Seems to give you a regulator, gauge and filter in one unit which is pretty handy. Not sure about the build quality etc but not bad for the price, if it does what it's supposed to http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FILTER-KING-8 ... 563d0dbd8e

Ok, also seen this from mr gasket. It looks like a simple version, though i'm not sure if i would trust it without a gauge readout. You turn the dial to where you want the pressure to be, would be happier getting feedback from a gauge though. This pic was about 3 years ago, just after crate engine 1 went in.

It's a separate regulator and gauge. I think it came with the fittings and everything. All from stock at Real Steel, they even gave me and extra couple of feet of fuel line, can't remember how much though. .

Ah got ya, yes i noticed the control arms too I'm working on some G braces and really struggling to get the 2nd connection between the fender bolt and main tube hooked up. I was studying your other pic (thanks!) and your man there had some fancy tube bending equipment to get around it. Anyways that's slightly off subject, thanks for the tip on RealSteel, looks like they are selling the Holley regulator 4.5 - 9psi (looks like the one you've got) for about£30 which is pretty good. Hopefully with gauge ontop should get it for under £50 and maybe a bit of fuel line too Now that you mention about the slight flooding, i do remember that it had to crank a few times when we stopped off on the the way home, at the petrol station etc. Hopefully this will help reduce that.

I hope they can do it for roughly the same price, hopefully will hear from them this week, that'll help get another thing ticked off the list.
