Cheers for the comments chaps.
On a side note. What is the punishment for no plate? I`ll put one one in a bit.
Big silly UK plates ruin these cars. I`ve thought about a small flexible one as well.

Looks Good Bud

I dont know what the law states the fine etc should be for a missing plate but i rekon its all about how you speek to the men that pull you over be polite etc may get a warning be an offensive tw#t an get the book thrown at ya
Over the years but mainly in me late teens early 20s i was always getting pulled over
Some coppers new me by first name it got that frequent but because i spoke to them how i wanted to be spoken to it always ended up with a slap on the wrist :D
Seems the sensible option just be nice and act all innocent. Usually people who get stroppy get nowhere.
I`ll just get a a small plate that fits.

i was informed somewhere, that yanks cars do not have to conform to standard UK plate sizes and can run smaller letters. Dont quote this as gospel but thats what I've heard. My plate is a little smaller, similar to a correct sized/lettered bike plate

Lots of different thoughts on this, Didn't someone post up the correct currrent legislation recently on another topic where number plates came up..?
I found the current DVLA site says height of standard letters must be 79mm high,

I found an old DVLA update which indicates you can run down a certain smaller size of 64mm (same as a bike), as long as the vehicle didn't have EU type approval, and the space the vehicle had available for a number plate was smaller by design. Which is why jap import cars run slightly smaller lettering etc..

I think the fine for no plates is £30 each time. So £30 for no front plate, or £60 for both ... I've been warned once, but never fined. It's also not a points or anything serious thing either.

Really like that mate.

Where did you get the grille or is it a self made one? Thought about it for years, really smartens up the front.

:)

I went onto ebay and did a search for Camaro grille. It wasn`t that expensive. I`m putting my own plate on the car and as a result forfeited the JE Z28 plate. Personally I think it looked $hitty anyway. No one knew what it meant asides from a Z28 owner. After I had signed to say I was giving it up at the DVLA office today I kinda thought maybe I should have asked if someone wanted it. Too late. They wanted £105 to retain it and it was probably only worth £200.

They go for peanuts. I saw one at £99 but can`t find the link. It was going to cost me £105 to retain then probably some other fees to sell although I wouldn`t be looking for any profit.

BUT, check this out for £325.

http://www.nationalnumbers.co.uk/preview/UBZ_282.htm

or this for £115

Mine was illegal to really show the Z28 bit.

Car Details:1986 Camaro, bought into Spain by me in 1993.
305 replaced by a 355, 750 Demon carb, RPM AirGap intake, Brodix heads, Hedman Hedders, 3" Flowmaster exhaust.
Wheels are Summit aluminium 5 spokes, tyres are 245 rear 225 front BF Goodrich.
B/M transmission, battery relocated to the rear, GoodMark 4" cowl steel hood.
Location:Spain East Coast
I used to have a "snow plough" sized plate....
Image

then I was told I could use a motorcycle sized plate due to the pointy front of the car.
Image

Some Alfa Romeos here can use a smaller plate due to the mounting
space allocated for the plate.
