Morning everyone. .

Bit early for me to be up today, bit I'm sitting here on the piccadilly line tube on the way to Autopontiac to pick the car up.
Robin has fitted the SSBC rear disc brake kit I bought from 1979si ages ago, along with a Wilwood adjustable proportioning valve, and a new idler arm on the front steering.

Looking forward to a nice drive home in the sun to bed the buggers in. .

It's raining here too, so I'm in garage for a while sorting out my own stuff for a change . Stu, let us know what you think of the new brakes I guess it'd be hard to tell how they're going to perform on the road. What sort of pads are fitted? I remember seeing one of the pro touring Camaros in the US that had monster Baer brakes fitted & the owner said they were fantastic. He took it to a race track for race craft lessons. The racing instructor took him & his pro touring Camaro out & set the pads on fire after one hard lap. The instructor reckoned that all this huge brake stuff was a waste of time for all out high performance racing, unless you invest in proper pads & not the stuff that the brake kits come with.
I've seen Martins (Sportroof on here) front discs glowing bright orange lap after lap at Donnington whilst racing. Standard type pads would have disintegrated at those sorts of temperatures.

Pads are very important depending on the style of driving and use of the vehicle, as I'm sure some of the other more experienced racers on here will agree with.
I've generally stuck with EBC pads on most of my cars just because I think they're a good price/performance compromise.
The camaro has the yellowstuff in the Corvette front brakes, which are a semi-competition compound and seem to last but still need a bit of heat before they really work, I don't think I'd want to go harder as on the road I'll have no brakes.. These rears just fitted have the Grenstuff pads which are a basic upgrade from standard, but the rears don't get hammered as much so hopefully they'll be ok, time will tell.. !!
I also changed to Motul RBF600 fluid which is a very high performance brake fluid instead of the standard.

Hawk pads seem widely recommended in the states, or if wanted to go more full on I'd get the Carbotech pads.
