I prefer the look of the 90-92 cars personally over the 85-90/IROC.

1LE cars didn't specify deletion of electric windows etc but 1LE cars with luxury options like electric windows and leather trim are even rarer because they were intended as stripped down versions for the showroom stock racing series. That's the whole point of the package and why the car really only appeals to enthusiasts but probably not to someone who isn't too bothered about the whole 1LE thing. 1LE cars also don't have A/C, since you had to specify G92 rear axle but delete A/C to trigger code 1LE, so there's the weight saving from the compressor, pipework and condensor. Then there's the alumninum driveshaft, bigger front brakes and eagle eyed viewers will note the fog lamps are deleted to maximise airflow to the intake.

I'm not sure about 18'' IROC replicas though, I'd stick the factory rims ;)

Good synopsis James. I think I used the electric seats on mine once to set my position and that's where it's stayed :) Rather have the low weight, bigger brakes, performance 9 bolt axle, alloy driveshaft and the fact that I had probably the only one in the country 8-) That car will hold its value/ appreciate for sure.

To be honest this thread has got me interested in this car myself.

Heres and extra picture that kinda put me off though.

Looking at the car I`m guessing its more of a workhorse than showcar. Maybe not. Sometimes pictures can be misleading. Might be a cracker. 8-)

Yeah don't worry on the tow bar- sell it and get £50 back :) As for codes, one is performance diff and another is 1LE. Who cares about the others? :)

Cool.

How is the trannys on these things? The gearbox is a TH700r4 (with overdrive and lockup convertor). Robust? Anything to look for?

There's a really handy online decoder (http://www.camarosource.ca/camaro_info_ ... ?year=1991 - doesn't seem to be working right now) that'll do it, other wise have a nose through http://www.angelfire.com/on3/whitelight ... rdRPO.html

Also take a peep at: http://www.thirdgen.org/1991-chevy-camaro, which reckons only "175 1991 1LE B2L (350 TPI) Z28's were built."

Depends what it has been towing the 700r4 isnt the strongest box for it. I have had 2 Irocs in with tow bars and both needed gearbox rebuilding but then this one might have had a sensible driver doing the towing.
