Hi all,

Has anyone got any experience of somehow connecting an mp3/ipod/smartphone to their music system? Im going to take my 98 Z28 to a local motor music place near me on the weekend but I wondered if anyone else has done something similar to their already? I have the CD player atm but I am hoping to be able to somehow add extra functionality with the mp3/ipod/smart phone connector etc.

All thoughts appreciated.

Thanks

Alex

Do you have a CD changer option ?... if so there should be an additional input for that in the head unit you could adapt for an aux input.

I know I have seen dash conversion plates and brackets for a standard DIN sized stereo for all year Camaros, so you could then fit a new unit with iPod/MP3 input, bluetooth etc..

you can get the tuner adaptor, the ones that plug into the ipod and transmit over a certain frequency. They work pretty good. If not you can get tape adaptors (my head unit is a tape with CD changer in rear) which allow you to plug in a 'jack' type plug from your ipod or mp3 player etc

Hi all,

I have the single CD player input on the central dash with no CD changer.

MaudyZ28 this adaptor you speak of, would this work for me without a CD changer and if so can you point me towards a website if you know of one as I don't have much knowledge in this area?

Thanks

Alex

Its just a radio transmitter all you do is find a fm number on your car stereo that just picks up static then make the unit the same freq and away you go

If you dont like that idea i bet theres a aux in or a white n red phono jacks on the back of the stereo if so maplins your best bet for a 3.5mm jack to 3.5mm jack lead or 3.5mm jack to red n white phono connection lead

Hope this helps
Stu

or try flee bay.

Cant go wrong with the price to try it and see how you like it. My girlfriend has one of these and provided you find a freq with no signal on the radio you set the ipod transmitter to that and effectively tune into your ipod

The sound quality of the FM transmitters can be pretty bad, depends how bothered you are.
If you're up for a fiddle behind the stereo it's likely there's a aux or CD input you can use like the other Stu says..

Hi all,

Thanks for the comments. I have made a decision and this will be implemented by a place in Watford, (my hometown). I am not sure if I am allowed to post their website on here (some forum's have rules about certain things) for others to see.

I will post up again after the work is done with pictures :)

Thanks

Alex

We're not too fussy here, as long as it's not illegal then post away ;)

I found the wiring diagram for my clio's headunit and was able to wire in a jack plug, hide the wires, make it look standard, in less than an hour. FM's transmitters can be hit and miss as Stu says. My mate had one that was always fuzzy. He got another one and it's good enough that whenever we're driving next / infront of eachother i can tune it and it's clear as day.

Cheers!

Where possible, a photo sharing service can be used such as Flickr, Imgur etc. The image location (usually ending in .jpg) can be copy and pasted between the ][ brackets that appear when you click the 'Img' button (you can find this button at the top of the message box).

How to post youtube vids: Click on the 'youtubeHD' button at the top of the message box and in the middle of the ][ brackets that just appeared, copy and paste everything from the youtube web address that appears after the = sign i.e if this is the url: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2cNqaPSHv0 just copy "K2cNqaPSHv0").
